Happy Thursday everyone! This is throwback best friends edition:) This is my best friend Kelly, or Peas🖤 we got dubbed as Peas and Carrots when we were young because we just go together that well, thanks Forest!! They help keep you focused, keep you going and keep you positive along the way. If people are trying to bring you down during your journey, put some space between you and those individuals. This is a form of self love! Boundaries are a form of self love! You do not owe anyone any part of you and if they aren’t being supportive, kindly, remove yourself from the situation. BREAKFAST = Break your fast . . Whenever you end a fast, you don’t end it with heavy, greasy, heart clogging foods. You break it with watery fruits for optimal digestion. Do you wonder why you’re backed up, bloated, gassy, constipated, etc? Take a look at your eating habits 🤷🏾‍♀️. . . While you’re sleeping 😴, your body begins to FAST and goes into a regenerative state, but can also become dehydrated. When waking up, it’s best to drink room temperature water and your first meal should be fruit. This should be practiced especially if you have digestion issues. Typically, fruit should be eaten alone since it digests way faster than other foods. Otherwise it’ll ferment in your gut and cause you to bloat, be gassy, etc. . ❗️Tip: Citrus fruits, berries and melons are great for those trying to burn belly fat 😉 . . A friend of mine used to get heartburn and bad gas after breakfast in the morning, which typically included eggs, bacon and other starchy foods. We switched her breakfast to lighter foods like fruit, herbal tea and water, in which all of her uncomfortable symptoms disappeared. Taking care of ourselves can be really easy but we put ourselves through so much unnecessary pain. If we just take the time to listen to our bodies, it’ll tell us what’s wrong and then it’s our job to fix it. 🙏🏾💞 . . What works | What does not work 💡 You most definitely do not need to starve yourself, eating like a rabbit to lose weight! Picture from my friend @meowmeix — What we do know, creating a lifestyle which works for you and fuelling yourself appropriately with unadulterated foods is going to be the easiest and simplistic foundation to reach your goals! . Losing weight the healthy way may take more time but it will leave you feeling so much better overall! Eating in a slight calorie deficit while paying attention to the quality of our food, getting movement in, hydrating and picking up healthy habits along the way is where the magic happens. Here are my tips on how to lose weight the healthy way: . 1️⃣ Stop drinking your calories. Chewing your food is more satiating whilst improving digestion. 2️⃣ Limit the processed foods you eat. 3️⃣ Add tons of seasonal fibrous veggies to your dishes! This will add loads of volume. 4️⃣ Make sure you’re getting an adequate amount of protein. This will help you feel full and stimulate mTOR particular in the morning leading to improved leptin signalling in the hypothalamus. 5️⃣ Add in some healthy fats. Fats are super important for cholesterol the backbone of all hormones and the absorption of certain vitamins and phytonutrients. 6️⃣ Fasting might be a viable option which may suit your lifestyle, stress levels and depending on your leptin sensitivity. It also allows a shorter eating window to accommodate more food. Weightloss accountability post! Recently a dear friend passed away and I was looking through photos for the slide show at the funeral. Let me tell you, when this before pic popped up on that screen I physically cringed. I thought to myself, how did I let that happen? I'm not that girl anymore. I dont ever want to be her again. Eh not the best workout and had to work with very VERY limited equipment but managed to get some shoulders and legs in this morning. Now a little cardio to polish it off . Tan is on point. Gym lighting sorta sucks but the dark bathroom lighting was interesting . Other than my mid section, my quads are always the indicator I use if I'm losing my definition and getting fat. So far, seems to be holding up!
