When one decides that it’s time to make a change and improve their health, the very first thing most turn to is exercise. I know I did. For 30 years I use to try to exercise my excess weight off by massive exercising. I always was told calories in and calories out is what makes the change. All I had to do was exercise and burn more calories than what I consumed. Even though I felt I was making some what healthy food choices and exercised 6 days a week I never really saw great results. When one hour a day didn’t get results I exercised two hours a day. Still not seeing the results equal to my efforts. When I found this health program it was a total game changer. It went against everything I had believed. Exercise was NOT the way to get the weight off. Exercise is only 20% effective to loosing the weight. It comes down to nutrition and keeping your blood sugar balanced by eating more often. Exercise is an excellent tool to maintain after the weight loss. It’s excellent for mental health. It’s excellent for over all good health. But Dr. Anderson teaches that during weight loss exercise should be mild and easy on the body like 20-30 min walks or yoga. When we workout too hard on a low calorie intake makes the body go into a starvation mode and protect it’s self and will actually hold on to the weight to survive. Now that I was able to lose 35+ lbs in 4 months and I’ve kept it off for two years. Now I want to, I get to, I choose to exercise. I enjoy my exercise because my body can do it so much easier. I don’t stress out if I miss my exercise. I no long exercise to correct what I had eaten. I exercise because I enjoy it. TODAY, I DID A THING! 😁👏 . In the past, even just last year, I would have never done something like this. I would have convinced myself not to do it because I HATE long distance running, and I definitely wouldn’t have done it ALL-BY-MYSELF. I haven’t run in 15 years. But, I put a 5K on my vision board for 2019, and tonight I made it happen in the freezing cold, decked out in allll the Christmas gear as I ran through a Christmas light display.🎄 . I finished today’s race HIGH ON LIFE, and so very thankful for trainers that push my physical limits every single day. Thankful that Autumn taught me dedication and how to breathe through the work, Shaun T taught me tenacity and heart, and Jericho brought out my inner badass. Thankful for Amoila’s voice that was in my head when it started to feel really damn hard to maintain my pace in that last half of the race. AND thankful for a community that opened my eyes to a greater vision for myself, and for my life. I finished at 27:07 minutes, maintaining a 8:30/9:00 mile pace, and ended in 13th place out of over 50 runners in my age bracket. It was a great place to start, but it’s just the beginning. This little 5K? It’s just the start of the magic that still lies ahead of me. I just know it ❤️🥰 . Oh, and this shirt? Another sign of the change in me in this past year because I have now turned myself into a full-fledged morning person on ALL days, not just Christmas morning 😜

Cabbage Stir Fry Cabbage is impressively full of vitamins and nutrients. It’s so low in calories and so filling it makes for the perfect base of a stir fry. I added a whole head of cabbage, carrots, onion, green onion, garlic, ginger (which is also sooooo good for you) threw it in a pan and stir fried it. I added a mix of 2tbsp of coconut aminos/ soy sauce, 2tbsp sriracha, 1tbsp rice vinegar, 1/2 tbsp brown sugar and some toasted sesame seeds. Mix up and top with more sesame seeds and sriracha. Soooo good and so low in calories & carbs. Full of veggies and full of nutrients. I STRONGLY recommend this. God works in wonderous ways, and in His time always answers prayers that align with His will. It wasn't long ago that I always spent my free time playing games or mindlessly binge watching shows. When it came to work I always had the mindset to be productive and efficient, but for some reason lacked it in my personal life. For a long time I prayed for the mindset to be productive and grow personally. Now I am amazed by the leap and bounds God has pushed me through these last several months. Forced to get out of my comfort zone; facing my fears, my demons, the lies, etc. Every day is a growing opportunity. Striving for that 1% better. Now when I come home with no objective to complete at that moment, instead of reaching for that clicker, I'm thinking what can I be doing to progress. On top of that I've never felt better and never felt more free despite being busier than I ever have because I am doing what makes me happy. So I just wanted to openly praise my God, give Him the credit owned, and thank you to all those involved in my growth. Thankful for the new friendships and business partnership's. Sometimes it can all feel like such a struggle. Going from place to place, trying new supplements, protocols and medication, getting all the testing, experimenting with different diets… just for it all to keep coming back 😭 No one ever seems to know what to do (and can't hurry you out the door fast enough) 😒🙄 I'd say you're probably keeping a lot of this to yourself - sure, you'll talk about some things, but there's likely also a whole world of other things going on inside 🙏 Holding things in is probably the worst thing for the body, because organs, muscles, skin, tissues and glands all have receptors on them which access and store emotional information 🧠 It creates body tension which leads to muscle stiffness (sore neck anyone?), and, importantly, an inability to digest, absorb and eliminate food from the body. You end up with bloating, gas, pain and unpredictable bowels 🤨 Make sure you have a practice to process emotions each day, especially if you're not a big talker like me! Stretching, journalling, meditation, yoga, intense exercise or dancing are all nice to help with this. Quick early evening pilates snippet. If I didn't film it, fitbit it or take a photo it didn't happen right 😂😉💪. Yup using the Nursery as a quiet space to workout as Harris was currently running havoc everywhere else. Squeezing some sort of workout in today has made me feel so much better. Plenty of free resources that allow us to do workouts at home. Let's not forget to use them on the days we can't get to the gym or in my case thebadassrules studio. I used a YouTube pilates routine that I found when I googled. So no excuses here today. A workout is better than none. Looking forward to being back at the studio tomorrow. Back then I was just a 5 foot 10 skinny girl with no streachmarks but I’m learning to love every single ‘drawing’ my children blessed me with. CONFESSION: For dinner tonight I ate at least 5 pieces of pizza (May or may not be finished yet 🤷🏻‍♀️), 3 misshaped oversized cookies & 2 large glasses of vino. GUESS WHAT? Nothing changed! Carmelized onion, kale + feta pasta ✨ buttery, cheesy and only 5 ingredients 😦 this is one of my favorite weeknight pasta dishes that’s incredibly easy to throw together! ⁣ ⁣ Butter gets such a bad rep these days, for a very long time I wouldn’t use it! Did you know that grass-fed butter has more omega-3s, beta carotene, and vitamin A compared to standard butter? It also is high in the fat CLA which can help build lean muscle! That’s my fun fact of the week, enjoy your Saturday cheers! ✨⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 1/2 onion, sliced⁣ 2 cups kale, chopped⁣ 1/2 lb Whole wheat noodles⁣ 3 tbsp grass-fed butter ⁣ 1/2 lemon⁣ ⁣ - slice the onions and add to a pan with some oil or butter. Cook over medium low heat until the onions get some color. ⁣ - Boil the pasta and reserve 1/8 cup of the pasta water. ⁣ - Add the chopped kale to the onions and heat on low until softened. Add the noodles to the pan with the butter and reserved water. Squeeze 1/2 a lemon and toss to combine. Serve with feta and shredded chicken.⁣ ⁣

Research shows that people log the least hours of physical activity between Friday and Sunday, while food and alcoholic beverage consumption shoot way up. So try to stay balanced with a little exercise Saturday and Sunday.⁣ ⁣ Tip 3: Schedule Mini-Adventures. Planning for and anticipating something out of your norm is part of what makes you feel good. You experience positive feelings planning, looking forward to, and doing the activity. So make a plan to check out that new restaurant, to hit up a local museum, or to go to an iconic spot in your neighborhood (like me santamonicapier).⁣ ⁣ Tip 4: Disconnect. Make sure you schedule time to disconnect from devices and have IRL time. If you must work on your computer or phone, put the time frames in your schedule and stick to it. ⁣ ⁣ Tip 5: Reflect. Make time (aim for 30 minutes to an hour) for mindfulness and introspection. Read, journal, meditate, or color.
