Thoughts on Thursday - I have a question for you guys. What’s on your shopping list? I read this week that half the food bought by families in the UK is ultra processed😯. That means food is factory made with industrial ingredients and additives galore. A study of 19 European countries identified that the UK were the worst for purchasing ultra processed foods which made up, on average 50.7% of their diet. WOW!! What are we teaching our kids? Those foods have such a low nutritional value and our bodies are missing out on essential nutrients to keep us as well as we can be. Convenience eating doesn’t have to be bad for us!! It was about 4 years ago, I had just finished my dinner (roasted chicken) and a sentiment of guilt and disgust overwhelmed me over having enjoyed a meal. In that moment I realized I had let Ed into my life. It has been extremely hard to deal with Ed and his voice is constantly in my head telling me ”you’re not worthy”, ”you're not good enough”, ”you're weak”, and ”you're not capable of achieving your goals”. He always tricks my head into believing that the only way forward is to feed my self to the point where I can't eat anymore and then purge to be ”guilt free”. Living with an eating disorder is hard, tiring, and emotionally consuming. Even though I have wanted to quite a hundred times and let Ed rule my life, I keep on fighting because I'm not alone and the love of my family is reason enough to keep on going. If you are facing Ed, focus on your loved ones, reach out and always remember you are strong, worthy and capable. I believe in you! You are so much stronger than you think, take yourself further, and see the wonders you can accomplish.
