FRUIT 🍓 Een gezond tussendoortje? Toch? Tuurlijk! Fruit zit boordevol vitaminen, mineralen, antioxidanten en voedingsvezels. Ze zijn dus onmisbaar in een gezond voedingspatroon. Maar... Té is nooit goed. Te veel fruit dus ook niet. Fruit bevat namelijk ook suiker. Eet daarom nooit te grote porties fruit in 1 keer. Verspreid de 2-3 stukken fruit over de volledige dag. Zo vermijd je een piek in je bloedsuikerspiegel. Het is ook belangrijk om goed te verstaan wat '1 stuk fruit' juist betekent. 1 stuk/portie fruit = - 1 appel - 1 peer - 1 appelsien - 1/4 galia meloen - 1/2 mango - 1/2 banaan - 1 schijfje ananas - 10 druiven - 12 kersen - 4 passievruchten - 2 kiwi's - 2 mandarijnen - 250g aardbeien - 250g braambessen - 250g blauwe bessen Kies dus telkens voor de correcte portie maar spreid ook het fruit over de volledige dag. Op bovenstaande foto combineerde ik enkele soorten fruit die gelijk staan met 1 portie fruit. Namelijk: 1 gele kiwi, 1 passievrucht, 125g frambozen Bovendien ook een bom van vitamine C. Pasta con falsa carbonara 🍝 . INGREDIENTES 🍴 ▪️Macarrones, spaghetti o la pasta que prefieras (mejor si es integral). ▪️Cebolla. ▪️Bacon. ▪️Queso fresco batido 0% m.g. ▪️Pimienta negra. ▪️Sal . RECETA ✏️ 1. En una cazuela, cocemos la pasta con agua y sal. 2. En una sartén, sofreímos 1/4 de cebolla picada y reservamos. 3. A continuación freímos el bacon y cuando esté dorado incorporamos la cebolla frita, 2 cucharadas de queso fresco batido y una pizca de pimienta negra molida y sal y mezclamos. 4. While eating a whole banana by itself may be a little ummmm weird and not so tasty- If you bake those buggers you won’t know where the peel ends and the inside ‘goodness’ starts! PLUS you will consume an instant boost of vitamins B6, B12, magnesium and potassium! Entire Banana (Monkey) and Spinach Muffins **Try them! You will thank me (even though it may sound weird!) Makes 12 2 C spelt flour 2 tsp baking powder ½ tsp baking soda 6 twists sea salt 8-10 oz. baby spinach 2 whole organic bananas – yes… peel and all 1 flax egg (1T ground flaxseed w/ 3 T water.. sits until it is gooey) ¾ C maple syrup ½ C nut milk ¼ C applesauce 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract 1)Preheat oven to 350°F and spray or line a cupcake tin. 2)In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients (flour through salt). In a blender, blend together the spinach, bananas and wet ingredients, pour the blender contents into the dry ingredients and mix well (I love using a stand mixer for this) 3)Fill each cupcake hole in the pan ¾ full of the batter. Bake for about 23 minutes (check with a toothpick) 4)Remove from oven when done, let cool and store in the refrigerator! ****When using the entire banana (peel and all) you are benefiting from added nutrients and fiber! (Vegan and gluten free!) 🍒 BY:@starinfinitefood Deets: 2 tortillas heated up on medium high in a pan sprayed with avocado oil, (I heated the greens in the same pan while the tortillas were cooking). Mash some white beans onto one side of the tortilla and add a sprinkle of chipotle powder, then top the beans with vegan mozzarella (or any cheese or your choice). Once the cheese starts melting add some mashed sweet potato and wilted greens and fold over. Cook for another 30 seconds or so. OPEN WIDEEEEEE, FRIENDS! you don’t want to miss these TAHINI CHOCOLATE CHIP S’MORES BARS, they are basically my #LCTCC with a few adjustments to the recipe and some “healthier” marshmallows added, and O. M. G.—quite literally O. M. G. 😳😳😳 i cannot wait for you guys to try these, they are in fact life changing just like the cookies 😎 here’s how to make them: . 1 cup almond flour 1 cup @soomfoods tahini (highly recommend this brand because of both the consistency and taste for this recipe) 1/4 cup maple syrup (less than the original #LCTCCC recipe since the marshmallows add some sweetness) 1 tsp baking soda 3/4 cup dairy free chocolate chips 1 scoop collagen (optional) 1 egg (or flax egg) 3/4 cup marshmallows, chopped in small pieces (i used vanilla @smashmallow) . preheat oven to 350. in a medium bowl, stir together the almond flour, maple syrup, tahini, and collagen (if using). refrigerate dough for 30 min, then add egg/flax egg and baking soda. mix to incorporate well. fold in chocolate chips and marshmallows. line 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper (greasing inside so paper sticks). pour contents inside the dish and use a spatula to press down so everything is even. add a few extra chocolate chips and marshmallows to the top. bake 20-22 minutes. *note, this is longer than the cookie recipe because it’s in bar form and it’s thick. remove from oven after it’s done and let cool before slicing into squares. . ok, so which one of you will make this first, that’s the million dollar question 😎 HAPPY WEDS! #kalejunkie

We just dined at the most phenomenal Peruvian restaurant in Miami called cvi.che 105 @ceviche105aventura ❤️ The amazing thing about Miami is it is a melting pot of so many cultures and Peruvian is one of them. The cool thing about Peruvian food aside from how delicious it tastes, is it’s strongly influenced by Japanese culture which dates back to large numbers of Japanese immigrants that came to Peru before world war 2. I took 3 pics of our food (though there was more that we ordered) and I had to start with the dessert which blew our mind it was so good and I will definitely be trying to make it when we get home 😋 Dessert : was a cheesecake made with a Peruvian fruit called lucuma which almost had a nutty caramel fruit flavor. Hard to really describe but so delicious! The cup of caramel in the background is the more traditional Peruvian dessert which is a coconut creme caramel with a merengue kind of topping 🙌🏻 Think eating a cup of dulce de leche people- we devoured it😂 They also wrote Peru on the plate with a sauce which we thought was an instagram account tag🤦🏻‍♀️ It turns out that Peruvians make their letter p with swirls when spelling out Peru👌🏻 Now you all won’t make that mistake 😆 The next pic is of the Peruvian ceviche dish we ordered which is wrapped in potato slices with the ceviche inside 🙌🏻 This is definitely one of those Japanese meets Spanish culture dishes and it works beautifully! The last is the thing I thought was so cool and delicious which was brought to the table to nibble on, Wok toasted Peruvian corn. Unlike our corn, Peruvian corn does not pop open. The inside is nice and soft though. I like it so much better than our popcorn! If you’re ever in South Florida, this place and Peruvian food is a must try!

🏫 OK let me get my teacher hat on.. . What is a calorie deficit? As a human being, you burn calories as fuel. To maintain your weight you need to be putting in as many calories as you are putting out. This is called energy balance. . ⚖ Imagine that balance as a scale. . 🍽 To put on more weight (body fat) you need to eat more calories than you're using each day. . 🏃‍♀ To lose weight (body fat) you need to either eat fewer calories, or move more to tip the balance towards being in a deficit. . Me personally? I went from doing full-time PT and walking over 25,000 steps a day. Now I'm coaching online and sitting at a laptop more, sometimes I'm only doing 3-5k steps in a day. That's meant I EITHER reduce my calorie intake (eat less) or increase my energy output (move more) or do a bit of both to maintain my weight. . 4⃣ Your energy output is made of four components that burn calories: . ✅ BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) the amount of calories that are burned when you are at rest. So think of it as your heart pumping the blood round your body, your lungs breathing, your brain functioning etc. . ✅ NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) the calories your body burns moving day to day. Walking, fidgeting, heck even brushing your teeth burns a couple of calories. For example - my NEAT was high in the past clocking up 25k steps compared to my recent 3-5k steps. . ✅ EAT (Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) the calories you burn doing conscious exercise activity. That weights session, that swim, that run. That's classed as EAT. This is what I had to increase recently to tip my energy balance. . ✅ TOF (Thermic Effect From Food) These are the calories that are burned by your body to break down and digest your food. This can be as high as 10% of your energy expenditure with a high protein diet. So eat more protein and you'll also burn calories by digesting it! Cool eh? . ⬆ For us at Body Smart we know the easiest way to create a deficit is to focus on all of these. Move a little more, eat a little less, eat enough protein. It really is as simple as that! I have been on a #banzamakeherdance kick for about forever now & I love switching It up each week with how we make It! Vegan Week Dinner No. 4 Tofu Lettuce Wraps! I would 💯 eat these again even if I wasn’t trying to eat vegan. I felt much more awake yesterday. I wasn't tired and didn't feel the need to take a nap at all! Now whether that's because my body is adjusting, or because, until about 5:00, I hadn't had any grains, who knows. BUT, I feel so intestinally unwell... I feel full, like stretched and bloaty and nasty. I did hit a wall yesterday. I MISS CHEESE! I realize how many of my snacks were cheese and milk, and it's been really difficult to find snacks that I don't have to assemble. Also- I was interested to try this because I was wondering if my general bloaty-ness was caused by my dairy intake. But since switching to this vegan diet, I feel just as icky, if not more-so. So I can take comfort in the fact that I can continue to eat dairy normally when this is all over and it's something else making me feel wonky. . Greek Style Fried Rice . Ingredients . 1 teaspoon cold-pressed extra virgin olive-oil 1 brown onion, peeled and diced 4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced 100 grams grape tomatoes, chopped 400 grams cooked chickpeas, washed and drained 4 cup mushrooms, sliced 1/2 red capsicum, diced 1/2 green capsicum, diced 4 artichoke hearts, cooked 1 bunch broccolini, stems removed 6 olives, pitted and halved 2 tablespoons sundried tomatoes 2 spring onion leaves, chopped A handful of fresh basil leaves, chopped 1 teaspoon parsley, chopped A dash of salt A few dashes of pepper 1 1/2 cups 1-3 day leftover cooked rice . Method . Heat oil and cook onions and garlic until onion is translucent. Add grape tomatoes and cook until soft. Add chickpeas and cook for a minute. Add the rest of the vegetables, herbs, and spices. Cook until broccolini turns a dark green and the mushrooms darken. Add the rice and mix well.
