Nutrition: the act or process of nourishing or being nourished. . Low FODMAP, AIP, low Salicylate/Sulfur/Histamine, candida diets, keto diets.... sigh... . Often my clients wrangle themselves onto one diet after the next, independently or with the help of a practitioner, in desperate hopes of feeling better. And many times, we find some of the answers they are looking for. . BUT these diets by definition impose limits, and any form of restriction can trigger feelings of anger, irritability, frustration, sadness, or fear. . A few things I like to remind people who are utilizing these tools: . 1️⃣Remember they are TOOLS. They are a choice, you are holding the reins, and you are not meant to be "trapped" forever. . Every tool can be helpful or harmful. For example, a long term extremely low FODMAP diet can damage the diversity in the healthy microbiome, leaving you more vulnerable in the long run to dysbiosis. . 2️⃣They should always be temporary (at least in the most restrictive form). Vastly reducing food choices or quantities of certain foods is intended to give your body a break, while also allowing you to evaluate how your body tolerates a specific food, or a certain amount of food, when reintroducing. . 3️⃣Make each choice from a place of self-love. Think of your food as a form of nurturing, of giving to your body, of feeding your cells the very best so that they can heal. The attitude with which we consume our food matters as much as the specific vitamins, proteins and fats. . You possess an unlimited capacity to heal yourself. Find the joy in food---the color, the textures. Experiment with new ways of cooking, new recipes. . Saturday's workshop was a huge success! We spent the morning sharing tips on how to fuel our body with foods that boost our health and provide maximum energy. Martha @saborholistico and I discussed the importance of a smart breakfast (fat, protein, fiber). We then cooked, ate, danced and mingled. It was the perfect morning! The brain doesn't know the difference between hunger and thirst. 3. Get good sleep. Ghrelin is a hormone that controls our cravings for carbohydrates and simple sugars. When we sleep poorly our bodies produce more ghrelin. 4. Stop/reduce sugar intake. sugar craves sugar! 5. I know that I have talked a lot about #skinpositivity but it doesn’t make it any easier to share this on such a public platform! There is approximately 4 weeks time difference between these photos. You can literally see the change in my whole body language and facial expressions. The first photo was a lost girl, someone who was absolutely terrified of what was happening to her skin. Someone who hated the way her skin was looking. Someone who didn’t feel good about themselves.💔🌿⁣ ⁣ I feel like I have come so far not only with my skin in these 4 weeks, but with my mentality as well. My skin is still red but the horrible painful active acne and bumps have gone. I have changed the way I am thinking, I am loving myself and my skin for who I am. I’m here to preach this and inspire this change in others.💗🌱⁣ ⁣ I am so grateful for the support I have received from everyone here. All the tears, money and hours spent researching are all worth it. I am on the path I want to be on and my skin is following me. I hope this gives you some inspiration or hope for your own journey. 🌍💫

Un estudio en hombres pre-diabéticos mostró que comer la misma cantidad de alimentos dentro de las 6 horas de Ayuno Intermitente, mejoró el control glucémico, la sensibilidad a la insulina, la presión arterial y el estrés oxidativo en comparación con comer el mismo alimento a lo largo de todo el día. Otro estudio sobre hombres, entrenados en resistencia en la misma rutina de levantamiento de pesas, puso a un grupo en una ventana para comer de 12 horas y al otro en el método 16/8 con 8 horas de alimentación. Ambos grupos observaron pequeñas mejoras en la fuerza y el crecimiento muscular, pero el grupo 16/8 perdió más grasa corporal (-1.6 kg VS -0.3 kg) y su inflamación también fue menor. Easy peasy . . . @aahatsajnani “HOMEMADE COCONUT YOGURT!! 🥥 🥥 So many of you have messaged me for the recipe so I can’t wait any longer to share it because it’s just so easy to make!! You need 2 ingredients and some patience 🤷🏻‍♀️ . -> 1 can of full fat coconut milk (or coconut cream for thicker yogurt) -> 2 probiotic capsules (I use @probiogen ) ——>Mix the coconut milk or cream well and pour into a glass jar. Open the probiotic capsules and pour the powder into the jar and mix thoroughly with a WOODEN spoon. ——-> covered the jar with a cheesecloth or a very thin cloth (something you’d use for straining) and leave OUTSIDE the refrigerator for 24-48 hours ⏰ ⏰ ⏰ . The longer you let it ferment, the tangier it will be. 24 hours was good enough for me! Put it in the fridge when you think it’s the right flavor for you and it’s ready to eat ;) ****do not use a metal or steel spoon to mix the probiotic into the coconut milk. This will kill the live probiotic bacteria!”
