Αν είσαι κι εσύ γονιός που κυνηγάει το παιδί για να πιει νερό, υπάρχουν διάφοροι απλοί τρόποι που μπορούν να βοηθήσουν. 💧Παγούρια για παιδιά με όμορφα σχέδια ή τους αγαπημένους του ήρωες 💧Παιχνιδιάρικα καλαμάκια σε περίεργα σχήματα και χρώματα 💧Συνεχής έκθεση σε νερό, να έχει πάντα δίπλα του στο σχολείο, στο παιχνίδι και στο δωμάτιο του, αλλά κυρίως μαζί με τα γεύματα 💧Νερό αρωματισμένο με κομμάτια φρούτων (infused water), όπως φέτες πορτοκάλι, φράουλα ή ακτινίδιο 💧Να υπάρχει εύκολη πρόσβαση σε νερό χωρίς να απαιτεί τη βοήθεια κάποιου μεγάλου (π.χ. δοχεία με βρυσάκι σε χαμηλό τραπεζάκι, σκαμπό μπροστά από το νεροχύτη) 💧Μην ξεχνάτε ότι το πιο βασικό είναι να δίνετε το "καλό παράδειγμα". Sometimes it’s hard for me to rest. But I’m learning it’s part of God’s design for us to live best. Our bodies and minds truly do feel best and function best when we allow them adequate rest. On Monday I decided to do yoga instead of a plyometric workout on my workout schedule. I felt guilty at first. Then I realized I was listening to my body’s request for rest and listening to my body is never a bad thing, never something to regret. There is a reason all the fitness programs I do include rest days and active recovery days like yoga, stretching and Pilates... because the professional trainers know our bodies need rest, need to be allowed to slow down in order to become our strongest. The muscle tears you make when you lift weights need time to build themselves back stronger. If you don’t rest, you just tear with none of the rebuilding. If an Olympic athlete over trained and didn’t let their body and mind rest, they would be weaker come race day than their opponents who worked hard but also regularly rested. That plyo workout I hit pause on for a day? I enjoyed it more the next day, was safer and didn’t get hurt because I’d rested my sore and recovering muscles and I was also able to mentally cheer myself on to push myself physically harder because I’d given myself a break from pushing mentally and physically. God is the designer of our bodies. He created our bodies to feel good by moving AND resting regularly. Never feel bad for resting, from a workout, from a hobby, from whatever. Take time off and when you come back you’ll be refreshed and ready to enjoy it more and be more effective in whatever work it is 💪😀 Sometimes you just need to hear someone say they took a break to be reminded it’s okay for you to take a break too! I always enjoy posts that remind me to take regular breaks. ❤️

There is a lot of talk about plant-based protein nowadays. Numerous studies prove advantages of plant protein vs. animal protein. But is this really as simple as it seems? ⁠ ⁠ The main problem of these epidemiological studies is a relative incomparability of the two groups: in general people with high meat consumption live less of a healthy lifestyle than vegetarians or vegans. Vegetarians and vegans by definition do eat more various nutrients, more fibre etc than meat-eaters so a fair comparison is very difficult.⁠ ⁠ That is why a study done by Dr. Pfeiffer of Deutsches Institut fuer Ernaehrungsforschung caught my attention. Let me give you the lowdown: ⁠ ⁠ For 6 weeks, a group of 65-year-old overweight type-2-diabetics was observed while changing their diet to healthy fat, fibre and 30% protein. They were divided into 2 separate groups - one group got the animal based protein (milk, white meat, fish), the other group got pea protein. The goal was to maintain weight but improve overall health.⁠ ⁠ Results were surprising: several parameters improved in the same way for both groups (insulin sensitivity, HbA1c, uric acid, CRP) but liver fat was reduced by -45% in the animal protein group, in the plant-based one by -35%. The muscle mass INCREASED in the animal protein group, whereas it remained the same in the plant-based group. And even better: albumin-levels in urine (high levels indicate harm on kidneys) DECREASED in the animal protein group. For these 2 groups of diabetic sufferers, milk protein scored better than pea protein because it is digested more slowly, so it requires lower levels of insulin.⁠ ⁠ So my conclusion: there is no "one fits all" solution and while going mainly plant-based is really beneficial (I personally eat high quality, responsibly sourced meat only once a week), going purely plant-based is definitely not a solution suitable for everyone.⁠ ⁠ As always, please discuss any significant dietary change with your doctor and/or a registered nutritionist to ensure that your diet suits your health and will truly help you in the situation you find yourself in.⁠ ⁠ ⁠smartwithjana healthylifestyle nutritionist healthyfood fitlifestyle plantbased
