WHAT EAT IN A DAY - LONG RUN EDITION! ~ ~ For my next What I Eat in a Day, I’m showing you guys everything I ate yesterday after my 12 mile long run! You guys already KNOW how much I love long runs, so I always make sure to get extra fuel on these days to recover my muscles since I’m working so hard! Yesterday, after my run, I went to a carnival/fair with my friends which was sooo much fun! ~ Meal 1 : before my run, I had a slice of foodforlifebaking cinnamon raisin bread, fresh berries, and some Cheerios (not pictured) ~ Meal 2 : my post run snack was some seapointfarms roasted wasabi edamame and a vegan quiche muffin (recipe creds to the amazing frommybowl ) ~ Meal 3 : lunch was a HUGE plate of frommybowl chickpea protein cookies (I subbed the vanilla protein powder for chocolate protein and cacao powder) with roasted purple sweet potato on the side and tonsss of broccoli and brussel sprouts! This lunch really hit the spot! ~ Meal 4 : my afternoon snack was a slice foodforlifebaking sesame bread with hummus! ~ Meal 5 : dinner started off with a HUGE salad of kale, collards, red cabbage, onion, cilantro, sauerkraut, flax and chia seeds, Brazil nuts, nutritional yeast, spicy mustard, and balsamic vinegar! I have stressed the importance time&time again of protein in the diet. It is essential for growth, repair & satiety. It is the 'fitness' macronutrient,the one people associate with muscle/getting a toned physique!The one most people are happy to eat! Unfortunately,lots of people are afraid of carbs & fat.I know I thought carbs were evil in the past.I foolishly allowed the media to mislead me & I associated carbs with weight gain.I avoided them as much as possible. I avoided bread, pasta, potatoes etc. because magazines sold me the idea that this was the solution to weight loss & yet I was clueless that fruit & veg were, in fact, carbs. I was constantly unsatisfied because I was avoiding the foods that filled me & that fuelled my body. Instead I overate foods that I labelled as 'good' to try and fill the gap. Thankfully, I learned what a calorie deficit & a calorie surplus was &. realised that avoiding certain foods was not the answer to my body goals. Carbs are fuel.Your body needs them, they are essential for you body to function properly. I spent a long time feeling tired, lethargic & struggling to concentrate because I was not giving my body the fuel that it needed. I didn't want to exercise because I had no energy. My body was crying out for a vital nutrient...carbs! So a lack of carbs resulted in: -a lack of energy -a lack of concentration -constantly feeling unsatisfied -not wanting to exercise -an inability for my body to carry out important functions like fat metabolism.
