✼ hello it’s me again☺️. let’s talk about body positivity...what is it? I like to think of it as body acceptance, accepting where I am right now in this moment, loving myself for who I am and thinking about how far I have come. I used to always be so worried about my appearance and have struggled with very low confidence. food combining has changed my mindset. it’s kind cool how food can do that!! I am eating clean, healthy and nutritious meals and my mind and body has never been happier!! doing simple things like eating extra greens, moving my body/staying active, journaling, and honestly telling myself everyday that I am worthy, I am accepted and I am beautiful which sounds a little weird but trust me you need to tell yourself these things. after finally accepting myself for who I am I realized that the idea of not being good enough was all put in my head by me!! I’ve learned to not care so much about what’s on the outside and focus on loving myself for who I am. beauty from within is sooo much stronger than you think. true beauty comes within the soul☀️🌻✼

Lettuce wrapped turkey burgers 🍔 - Turkey patty was made by mixing ground turkey, chopped mushrooms, minced garlic,chopped chives, parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper. Patty was placed on a bed of lettuce and topped with brown mustard, heirloom tomato, goat milk cheddar, and leeks. And served alongside grilled zucchini and avocado slices!

VEGAN & GF FALAFEL🥙 One of my favorite foods! When I was in college there was an amazing falafel place (pita pocket in amherst) owned by a man from Syria who was ALWAYS there... I don’t think he ever took the day off. He was so sweet and would give you a ball of falafel to eat while you were WAITING FOR YOUR FALAFEL. Amazing. He always remembered that my order was vegan too! I miss that place, but luckily I figured out how to make a pretty good one at home! . RECIPE ↓ Ingredients: 1 can chickpeas and 1 can white beans or 2 cans chickpeas 4-5 cloves garlic 1/2 white onion 2 tbsp olive oil 1/2 cup kale, spinach or cilantro 3 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt 1 tsp black pepper 1/4 cup gf flour (I used millet flour) Avocado oil or another oil with high smoke point . Add all ingredients except flour and avocado oil to food processor and blend into dough. Pour into a bowl and mix in flour. If you have the patience/ are making this in advance, I recommend refrigerating this for an hour/overnight. It will make the cakes stick together better. If not they might fall apart but will still be delicious! Form dough into patties. Heat avocado oil in a frying pan (recommend non-stick) and place the patties in. Cook on medium high heat until browned on both sides. I served mine in @sietefoods cassava tortillas with kale, red cabbage, and my tahini dressing (recipe a few posts back)

for those who like anything chocolate or cookies as much as I do ~ cue a lot by 21 savage ~ this one is for you! ❤️ // ~ wasn’t expecting to make these like this at all but we love a good kitchen failure that turns into something tasty 🤣 I’m impatient & I don’t read instructions until it’s too late, so I didn’t melt my butter (I used the best: @miyokoscreamery plant based butter) before mixing it into the box mix 👏🏼 then to make up for it, I just microwaved everything in the bowl & ofc the choc chips from the mix melted turning the dough brown. but then I got the idea to turn them into a chocolate version plus I remembered the cherries in my fridge 👉🏼 cue chocolate cherry chocolate chip cookies my friends! after microwaving the dough, I stuck it in the freezer real quick to get it cold again, then added 1-2 tbs coco powder + chopped cherries + @enjoylifefoods chocolate chips to replace the ones I melted. baked 10 mins & they turned out BOMB 🍒 have a good night! // ~ p.s. I also used 2 tsp of maple syrup instead of vanilla like the recipe calls for (I ran out)

I happily take my pink drink and gut health supplements every morning and night. Without fail!! It’s the longest thing I’ve ever committed to and succeeded at. Because I stopped feeling like 💩. ⁣⁣The stomach aches went away, bloating, cold sores, exhaustion, feeling drained as a mom, losing joy in my purpose...⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ With incredible improvements, I have also had some major life struggles and stresses. I think for many of us, a holiday comes up, or a major life change, and we see things slipping and let them go or doubt the process. Maybe it’s not working anymore. Maybe it was just luck.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ But here’s the thing. Habits create progression. Gut health is here to stay. Getting enough sleep and drinking 80-100 oz of water isn’t a ‘trend.’ Exercise isn’t for ‘those’ people. Giving your body what it needs is CRITICAL. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ When you heal your body you’ll know how to heal it again. You’ll have compassion for the stress and fight and keep going because back was the first time you didn’t feel like crap for weeks and months in a row. And you know you can get there again, but it’ll take some work. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Your family needs you to show up as your best, so they can be their best too. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and my family needs a WHOLE PITCHER 🥤 of mama, not a rattling broken cup that quits. It’s not about perfection, it’s about not giving up. Xo ⁣⁣⁣

I built this account on the basis of gut health and self healing. It’s challenging because now that I am dealing with another round of stomach issues, I can’t help but feel like I’ve “failed” myself. I was doing SO. GOOD. with my health, fitness, and digestive issues. but the reality is, nothing changed! my body just decided to have another flare up and that’s totally ok. the cool part about the process this time is I get to share my journey, and be an advocate for realness 😎this is life + unplanned things (ie stomach issues) happens, and I’m lucky enough to have a good doctor to work with! I’m hoping this nausea + stomach discomfort is very short lived and that I can find answers soon, (check my story for my latest updates from today) but for now, I am trying my best to stay present. Wow has time been flying by! Anyone else feel like summer just goes too quick? I know my posting has slowed WAY down. Grad school just caught me by surprise this semester and I have been 🤓in the books EVERY DAY! Anyways, I have had the opportunity to dive a bit into body image and it has been fantastic. You all know I love anything related to #neuroplasticity because it brings us hope. It is easy to think body image is all fluff and flowers. The truth it is is hard work and takes intention and practice. Sometimes, in order to accept our current body, we have to lay down our desire to understand why. Why am I this size? Why did my body change? Why am I larger than my other family members? Why me? Am I saying you should dismiss your health and avoid routine care and discussions with your doctor about signs and symptoms? Absolutely NOT! However obsessively chasing answers as to “why has my body changed?” Does not always bring you body peace. If your tired of chasing answers consider taking a step towards body acceptance. Once again, I’m just not in the mood to talk too much. My main account is in this weird limbo spot so I just feel weird about posting. But that’s okay. That’s life. Onto the food. I started my day with raspberries, a dark chocolate and oats nature valley bar, and a banana. Then I went to work, and on my dinner break I had strawberries, some grapes, and a ham and cheese sandwich. Then when I got home, I snacked a little, on an apple and then some Cheetos. And that is all. Oh. Something else. My weight KEEPS GOING UP. Weight gain is a side effect of one of my psychiatric medications. At first I thought that was because it made my appetite go up, but once that subsided, and my weight stayed up, I was at a loss. Maybe it’s messing up my metabolism. I don’t know. I just want my pants to fit again. So I need some of these pounds to fall off. Honestly, when I step on the scale and see how high the number is, it doesn’t even fully register. It doesn’t seem like that’s my number. It feels unreal. It’s a weird feeling.

🍎🥯 Whole grain apple muffins and donuts. I basically used the same recipes as I used for the banana bread squares that I made. I only changed a couple things. 1. I added an extra egg 2. I have been eyeing these giant muffin cookie things off for ages. I’m talking potentially even a year. A year’s worth of eyeing 👀 How RIDICULOUS is that? I love all baked goods but things like this are next level, even for me. It’s what my dreams are made of. I can’t believe I put off getting one for this long because I felt so guilty about the calories and ruining my diet. Depriving myself of what I really want in a particular moment often leads to bingeing on whatever I can find later. And I don’t stop when I feel sick, I keep going. It’s awful. So today I got one (fresh out of the oven thank you very much) and it has been DIVINE. I’m eating it slowly and mindfully and enjoying every last bit. Another “have your cake and your skinny jeans too”- @josiespinardi Victory moment. . . This summer I decided to return all the shorts I bought that I was gonna save for later when I lost weight. And I decided to buy a pair that fits right now EVEN THOUGH IT MEANS I HAD TO SIZE UP. This is a huge shift because up until this summer I didn’t wear much of anything that was cute or I liked, well, because I didn’t look a certain way yet. Why buy what I like right now because I’m gonna lose weight one day anyways.. this doesn’t even make sense when I say that out loud!! . . . Since deciding to eat intuitively or hunger directed eating, I have also decided to live in the moment and stop waiting for the future!! You guys.. I feel so much better, cuter, more confident. I did not want to walk today. It's hot. Muggy. I was tired. I cleaned all day. Cooked. And took care of my son. I didn't want to go yet I know I couldn't the next 2 days because the heat index will be 110°. Therefore I asked my son if he wanted to go on a walk... Hoping he would say no. He didn't. He pushed me to go, he grabbed my hand and said let's so. He is my biggest motivation. And today he reminded me of why I wanted to go on this journey to begin with. For him. So I got us ready, and we went on a very hard and sweaty walk, then we even played in the backyard in the sprinkler to cool off. I found this super easy 3-ingredient recipe for lemon cookies on Pinterest the other day from @findyourmomtribe1 & they came out so good! 🍋💕 All you need is a lemon (zest & juice), almond flour, & maple syrup 👌🏻 I’ve never actually baked with almond flour before, so was a bit nervous, but they are absolutely delicious & I love the flavor & texture the almond flour provides 🤤 Will definitely be experimenting with it more 😁 . In northern Michigan, we live cyclically. Summer is full of late nights soaking in the warm sun and playing outside until the last shadows disappear. In case you’re wondering what dinner WAS the other night — extra CRISPY chicken on top of roasted heirloom local tomatoes, loaded with broken feta, fallin through the cracks🌟🔥 The key to getting the sauce to stay sauceyyy + SOPPY and NOT dry is to cook the chicken separately from sauce for that juicy consistency - once chicken is cooked and crisp, then add to sauce! SO freakin delicious, I think I’ll make it again for B ❤️ Headed back to the city for the weekend and couldn’t be more excited about it! It’s so hard to break the habit of checking labels and making decisions based on the amount of calories- especially when at almost every restaurant it’s impossible to avoid the calorie count on each menu item. That information should be available to those who want it, but I sometimes hate that I’m forced to see it and then have to try to not let it make my decision for me. ⁣ ⁣ The only way to break this habit is to choose whatever you feel like eating, regardless of calories, and understand and observe that nothing negative will happen because of it. It’s been a day of amazing food here! Pretty sure I gained 5lbs sampling all the meal prep 😂. I decided to try a sweet fathead bagel and came up with a chai cinnamon chocolate chip using @jaswantskitchen chai masala. It’s amazing. Then I added strawberry puree & @philosophielove Berry Bliss into @gooddeesmix lemon muffin...pure delicious. And then battled that poutine craving with a @trulocal steak covered with cream cheese & gravy that I made with butter, HWC & @organikahealth bone broth powder (chicken broth on steak 🤷🏻‍♀️). At less than 2 carbs a piece, it is truly the perfect light refreshing summer treat . . I got a quick workout in today (and shame on me forgot to share to stories for proof!). I didn’t do it because I felt guilty of the food I ate or the drinks i had on vacation the last few days. I didn’t do it because the diet culture told me that I needed to work off my indulgences. I didn’t wear my apple watch and track every burned calorie. I didn’t do it because I had to earn the nachos I am going to eat tonight. I didn’t do it because I was afraid of stepping on the scale. I did it because i wanted to. I did it because I wanted to move. I did it because I want to feel good in my body. But as soon as I turn on the tv or scroll through Instagram the marketing ads are already in full force. Diet culture wants you to believe that your worth is based solely on how you look. They want you to believe that they can control your brain by showing you the ads over and again. They want you to feel so guilty & shameful that you buy their product. They want you to rely on their product to fail you to buy their next product and the next and the next. I don’t want to live that way and you shouldn’t either. So the next time that you’re fighting with your inner Goddess of whether you should workout or not, ask yourself why. Ask yourself what you really want to achieve. Ask yourself how you really want to feel. And if any of those answers lead you to exercise because you truly want to feel that release of endorphins and want your body to move, then get after it girl. But, if any of those responses include feeling guilty or shameful, take the day off to sit with it and start again tomorrow.

We're normal people. We eat normal things. That doesn't mean everything we eat is perfectly balanced, made-from-scratch meals. Sometimes that works. And sometimes corn dogs with ketchup is what works.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When you have a healthy, normal relationship with food you can eat corn dogs and move on with your life. It’s not a cheat meal. It doesn't need to followed up with a tray of brownies and a gallon of ice cream. It doesn't have to be accompanied with a dose of shame or guilt. Vegetables don’t make a person morally superior and corn dogs don't make a person morally inferior. All foods can fit into a balanced diet. (Yes, ALL foods!). In the words of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “there is no such thing as good and bad foods, only good and bad diets.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of the time (there are always exceptions!), poor diets and diseases related to poor diets are a socioeconomic issue. Where you find poverty you find poor diets. And where you find privilege you find people labelling foods good and bad and looking down on those who do not have the time, money or skill to eat like they do. Food elitism is a huge problem in our society with far too many people on their soap boxes and far too few actually helping the most vulnerable.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A lot of people think they need help eating healthier. ANDDDD... we are home 🙏🏼 My flight home from Jersey didn’t go quite as planned. My first flight got delayed by about 3 hours meaning that I missed my connecting flight. After a long wait to get a hotel, I found out that they wouldn’t let me because I am 18. Basically, I ended up sleeping in a hallway in the Chicago airport by myself 🤣 Somehow, I managed to keep my composure and react positively to a crappy situation. I found myself in prayer a couple of times and made sure to take some deep breaths. In a moment of confusion and worry, I realized there was nothing to “figure out” or fear. It was out of my control, it’s as simple as that 🤷🏼‍♀️ So I put on my big girl pants and guess what? I’m home!! I survived!! Everything is okay!! This was definitely a much needed reminder for me that I am not the one in control. We aren’t put in situations we can’t handle. 💗

With all the hours I spend in the gym and in the sun, I have really had to prioritize how I take care of my skin. Sun exposure and sweat have a HUGE impact on the condition of your skin. • • • Some of the things I look for when buying beauty products are - Affordability... Is the product reasonably priced compared to other similar products? Can I afford it? - Sustainability... Where and how do they source their ingredients? Are they made ethically and humanely or are they mass-manufactured? - Cruelty-free... Are the products tested on animals? Are they vegan? - Effectiveness... DO THEY WORK? For skincare— Am I having a negative reaction? Do I notice less breakouts and avoid dry/oily skin? Does it work with my lifestyle? • • • @freskincare performed above average in all of these areas!
