Tonight I went to a Church Fireside where they served pie for dessert. Pie is generally so low on my list of deserts that I love that I only eat it when I'm in desperation or deprivation mode. Tonight I passed on the pie and came home and made a smoothie instead. I've wanted a smoothie all day long, but I probably wouldn't have made one if my stomach had been full of pie. I'm much happier I chose the smoothie! 🍉🍌🥑🍓 HAES fuckitdiet ditchdietculture allbodiesaregoodbodies healthateverysize dietculturedropout fatphobia intuitiveeating

{Currently I’ve been learning to eat intuitively} _ - Instead of eating all the things that everyone tells me I “should be eating I’ve decided to eat the things that my body tells me I should. . No one knows my body better than me. . But I love the language these graphics use. . “Is your tummy full” 🤷‍♀️ . This is a great way to start teaching your children about intuitive eating. Children are born very intuitive. They communicate (cry) when they need things. Somewhere along the way as we grow up self-doubt and low-confidence kick in and we stop behaving based on intuition. . . So I think it’s important to encourage them (and YOU) to eat intuitively (and therefore act and think intuitively). . . I also love the graphic comparing fruits and veggies. Not everyone likes veggies (granted not everyone likes fruit) but this graphic shows that other types of food can contain many of the same essential nutrients. So just because someone does eat one kind of food or food group it doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t getting the right nutrients. . Do you agree? 👋 ____________________________________________ food positivesupport healthyeating healthyfood mealprepping intuitiveeating familyhealth familyfitness easyfamilymeals kids kidsfitness kidshealth healthykids kidsblogger parents parenting parentingtips parentingblogger inclusivefitness fitfam fitness yummyfood homemadefood fitnessblogger activeliving activelifestyle healthyfamily daretobedifferent

After posting yesterday’s OMAD, we went to a friend’s house for dinner, and I ate my weight in Persian Kebab, chicken and saffron rice. Also drank a few glasses of wine and some crackers with yogurt dip - sneaking suspicion these were not gluten free because I felt really sick this morning! Although that could have been the alcohol 🤔food affects me so strongly these days. When I eat fresh healthy nutritious food in the right quantities at the right time, I feel on top of the world. If I deviate away from that perfect combo, I notice it. Sometimes a lot more than others. Today I’ve decided not to eat anything at all. I’ll break my fast tomorrow at lunch time. My body tells me it needs a break and I’m going to listen. This isn’t a way of punishing myself or being super restrictive or trying to get into a caloric deficit (even with my two large meals yesterday I’m still in a deficit, and even more so when you consider my weekly caloric intake). I do this because I just ate too much yesterday and now I’m not hungry. It’s kind of hard to imagine if you haven’t experienced it yourself. Taking a 24-48 hour fast gives your body a break. And we are designed for that! Happy eating/fasting people! intermittentfasting intuitiveeating extendedfasting workplaceselfie hereswhatsup

I hold the belief that people care, that people genuinely want the best for us, especially those closest to us, that no-one that loves us intentionally sets out to do harm. However, when it comes to our relationship with our bodes and food, without knowing it, many do just that. They don't realise the damage their words can do until we allow ourselves to use our voice and educate them. . I've had numerous clients say to me that family members and colleagues comment on their weight, that a family member has expressed concern about their health if they gain more weight or that a colleague has celebrated how 'good' they look asking if they've lost weight... I've been in this position more than once myself. I remember getting the 'do you really need that?' comment over a food choice and taking that to mean something about my body. I remember when I started moving a bit more having recovered from injury people commenting that I was "looking good", reinforcing that I hadn't 'looked as good' before. These sort of comments lead us to fear gaining weight for much more than the health reasons we have been socialised to believe are associated with weight gain. It leads to a fear of loss of love and loss of acceptance if our bodies change. . How do we navigate this? 1. We need to stop commenting on other people's bodies . 2. We need to do our own healing work so that when this inevitably happens again... which it will, we are able to ground into the internal resources we have gained and the knowledge of our worth unrelated to our physical body. . 3. We need to educate those around us about what is OK to discuss when it comes to our body and set healthy boundaries. . The stigma that comes with gaining weight or living in a larger body is much more damaging to health than the weight itself. Comments on bodies and concern about weight gain is so much less about health and more about the fatphobia of our society that sees certain bodies as "better" or "more acceptable" than others. These are the deep underlying cultural conditionings we need to work on! . To all of you healing your own body image while navigating personal body commenting, along with cont below ⬇️

One thing I’ve been thinking a lot about is the morality of food. It’s so easy on Instagram to feel like everyone’s eating a wholesome diet that includes exotic fruit, colorful vegetables, gluten free grains & maybe an some “superfoods” sprinkled in. And for a long time I felt guilty about eating “unhealthy” foods such as bread, chocolate, icecream. But what I’ve learnt is that there’s no “good” and “bad” food. So instead of feeling like I need to “eat clean all the time” I’ve taken on a non-diet approach & allowing myself unconditional permission to eat whatever I want, whenever I want. And sometimes it’s a vegan protein smoothie bowl topped with mulberries, grapefruit, flaxseeds & hemp seeds and other times it’s jam on toast. Food isn’t complex but often our relationship with it is.

Great wisdom here. Posted withrepostshanonrdldn Look familiar to anyone? This is what I like to call "prophylactic shopping." It's buying what you think you *should* eat (diet mentality) instead of what you really want to eat (intuitive eating). No need to beat yourself up if you do or have done this. Lots of us have and maybe some of us still do. . If your shopping trips look like this regularly, consider looking deeper into the reasons why. Why do you buy these foods, why don't you eat them, do you even like them, why do you think buying them next time will give a different result, what is the benefit/drawback of buying them, what would it feel like if you didn't buy them next time? . Perhaps it's time to get curious, to explore, to make a change and see what happens. If you do something different and it doesn't work out, nothing's lost and you've gathered some good info. Info that will become helpful, probably sooner rather than later. . IntuitiveEating DitchTheDiet DietDisruptor AllFoodsCanFit JudgementFreeZone SelfCare SelfAcceptance

Posted withrepostlaraslosingit That insatiable hunger you have when you are trying to lose weight is very REAL and it’s time that we start to THANK our bodies for that because it’s keeping us alive!!!! . Because in the past our ancestors had real famines to deal with, the human body has a whole plethora of systems in place to help keep us alive during these famines. The body perceives dieting (ie. any form of trying to moderate, cut back on, restrict, etc our food intake in an attempt to lose weight) as a famine... so when you are pursuing weight loss your body is thinking “oh shit it’s a famine!” And it does all sorts of things to help you NOT lose weight... things such as slowing your metabolism and raising your hunger hormone so you feel SO freaking hungry and have all kinds of cravings!!! . The freedom comes from totally giving in to it all... listening to your body until your body feels as though it can trust you to feed it when it needs... then eventually the insatiable hunger subsided and you can finally feel like you are able to eat like a normal person!! . . . . intuitiveeating nondiet antidiet healthateverysize haes bopo bodypositive loveyourself selflove selfcare fuckdietculture dietculturedropout

WE’RE GETTING IN THE MOOD! 🍁🎃🍎 . I’ve been working A LOT lately. My Intuitive Eating Coaching has taken off tremendously! It’s so exciting and I’m living my dreams... ....but I’m a little embarrassed to say that my family has taken a backseat in the process. . Which is why times like these feel so good to get away from the business for a bit and get back to the reason why I work so hard. . I want these boys to see a woman who never gave up on her dreams in spite of her struggles. I want them to know I dug into my passion and took its vulnerability into my bare hands. But I also want them to see me for who I am and know my heart for the time I put into helping others. . I hate the word balance because it’s not real. The truth is, you go too far to one side, then slide over the other. Then go too far to that side and go back to the other. It’s like a seesaw. To me, this incredibly imperfect balancing act is balance. But this “balance” helps me anchor my dreams to my heart and puts into perspective why this inner self work is so important 💙

Normal vs Natural... Warning: you may be triggered. Is it normal to eat dessert every night? Is it normal to binge on alcohol at social events? Is it normal to have 10kg+ excess body fat? Is it normal to have health conditions after age 40? In most cases, yes. According to society. And I'm not saying that this is "wrong," all I'm saying is that what is "normal" is more likely what is socially acceptable. But! Are these things natural for the human species?? And on the other hand... Is it normal to eat more than 2-3 pieces of fruit a day? Is it normal to pass on drinking alcohol? Is it normal to be in touch with your emotions and intuition? In most cases, no... again, highlighting what is not as accepted as the standard in society. Are these things more natural to the human species? You tell me! Drop into your heart space and listen to your intuition. Then choose your habits based on what feels aligned and natural... Looking back at the weekend like.... ⠀ Seriously though, did you go haywire this weekend? Eat all the things? Drink all the things? ⠀ Are you gonna “start over” tomorrow? Are you tired of doing that? ⠀ I know, I used to feel the same way. ⠀ I used to barely eat all week long. I’d choose the lowest calorie options all the time, thinking that was the best thing to do. I would essentially starve Monday-Thursday. Then Friday would roll around and I’d indulge in ice cream and pizza and whatever else because I was “good” all week long and I “deserved it”. Friday ran into Saturday and Sunday. And then Monday ended up being another rerun of staring over. ⠀ Life doesn’t have to be a never ending cycle of starting over. Health looks different and hold different meaning and values for everyone. What does being “healthy” or having good health mean to you? How does it look when you take weight out of the equation? . . Diet culture says weight is the only indicator of health. We are provided BMI scales and told by well-meaning practitioners that weight loss is the answer and we need to conform to the “normal” range if we want to be “healthy”. This is far from truth! The reality is no diet, BMI scale or person can provide you with your magic number to health. In fact, when we buy into the idea that weight is the only issue worth “fixing” in order to achieve health we do so much damage to our food and body relationships. . . You may find this frustrating and that’s ok. Letting go of the thin ideal and accepting our bodies where they naturally fall when we adopt sincere body kindness (answering our bodies need through regular self-care, nourishment and activity we enjoy) can be challenging, but as the saying goes “it is so worth it”! No diet, BMI scale or person can provide you with your magic number. . . Remember, giving up on dieting is NOT surrendering to complacency OR giving up on better health. In fact, it’s just the opposite! Weight is not a determinant or health and weight cycling from frequent dieting actually causes more harm than good in terms of health. . . Freeing yourself of weight and the diet cycle is lifechanging and possible! . . It celebrates body diversity as real phenomenon and allows you to truly decide what is best for you and your health. It allows you to find an authentic version of health; where you decide if how you eat, move your body or care for yourself is actually valuable or something you want to pursue with the same intensity as some of the diet rules you allowed dictate your life and steal time, energy and joy. . . So again what does health mean to you? ditchthediet registereddietitian nutritioncoach intuitiveeating healthateverysize shamelessnutrition foodpeace bodypeace nutrition

Happy Sunday! Chicken Fajitas for dinner 🍴 some mealprepsunday Ideas for your week— . . Cook once, eat twice. Try doubling recipes to get ahead on cooking and have a dinner or lunch ready for later. 👍🏼Added bonus: this helps to use up extra ingredients that you may have bought specially for that recipe (a bunch of herbs, for instance). 🙌🏼Recipes that freeze well, such as stews and casseroles, are great ones to double. Also consider cooking an extra chicken or more meat than you need. 👉🏼The leftovers are tasty in soups, salads, quesadillas or hash later in the week. . . Pack a lunch. When you’re making dinner, think about what you’re going to eat for lunch tomorrow. If you’re making a salad for dinner, 👉🏼make a little extra and put it in a container, undressed, for lunch the next day. And what about your leftovers from dinner? Is there a little extra chicken or maybe part of a can of beans? Toss that in with your lunch salad. Packing lunch at night saves the stress of scrambling during the morning rush. . . dream flavour profile: creamy pumpkin sauce little dollops of salty feta sharp tang of balsamic vinegar drizzle and slight crunch of crushed cashew nuts . the gnocchi itself could have been a tad bit more soft and pillowy but that flavour combo itself has won me over 💛 . all enjoyed with a chilled glass of aperol spritz & a panoramic view of multicoloured sunset 🌄🌄🌄

Doing some meal prep to ensure this week goes off without a hitch. Going to have tuna salad, veggies, egg roll in a bowl, and steak bites. Chia pudding is in the fridge. The last picture is a box of carbs. My other half committed to doing low carb / keto with me so we cleaned out the cupboards! Yay! Whaaaahoooo!!! We will give this to one of his kids. Haha. I'm so super excited to get back into a healthy lifestyle. It will help with him being onboard, but regardless, I'm doing this for me. 💕💪💃 . . sundaymealprep healingmybody intuitiveeating makingpeacewithfood findingmyway mentalhealthmatters keto lowcarb weightloss ketofriends blogger canadian midlife 40ish thisis46 keto goals weightlossjourney hypothyroid mealprep backontrack makehealthychoices

Oftentimes, we see/hear something, and immediately jump to, "how can I change by body!?" Instead, could you just pause for a moment, and try asking, "how can I show my body respect?" or "how can I care for my body today?" ⁣🤗⠀⠀ ...⁣⠀⠀ This could look like: ⁣⠀⠀ - eating carbs at most meals because you know they give you more energy⁣⠀⠀ - skipping a workout because you feel tired⁣⠀⠀ - getting really sweaty at a workout because it feels good to move⁣⠀⠀ - taking the time to have a snack instead of skipping it ⁣⠀ - preparing a couple meal ideas ahead of time so that you have quick food when you get home from work ⁣⠀ - eating according to your hunger/fullness cues ⁣⠀⠀ - making sure you get enough sleep so that you feel energized throughout the day ⁣⠀⠀ - eating food that is satisfying and delicious ⠀⠀ ⁣...⁣⠀⠀ These immediate must-change-my-body thoughts will inevitability come up. BUT, if we can take a moment, challenge the thought, and reframe it, we can make truly life-enhancing decisions❤️⠀⠀ ...⁣⠀⠀ Thoughts? How can you practice caring for your body this week?👇🏼

Until I became more educated on Health at Every Size and was able to see what my own biases, judgements, and *limits* of my education + training were, I also assumed a lot of the things about “overweight” people that you may be thinking right now:⠀ ⠀ - obese people are lazy and undisciplined⠀ - she really let herself go⠀ - he must be so unhealthy⠀ - why don’t they want to be healthier?⠀ - they must never exercise or eat well⠀ - insert many other horribly mean judgements we may have all thought about someone at one point based on their size or weight⠀ ⠀ ...without knowing anything at all about that person *except* their body size. Sure, I knew plenty of people that were bigger than me (as someone who has always been in a smaller body) who worked hard with their exercise and were constantly on diets and were still always bigger than the BMI standard.⠀ ⠀ But what I realized, after more education and digging into where those assumptions/judgements came from (popular culture, diet/wellness culture, conventional assumptions about weight, the bias in our medical system, being told 1200 calories a day is necessary to lose weight, that a smaller body = better and MUST be healthier, and SO much more) that I could tell nothing about anyone by just looking at their body size.⠀ ⠀ Someone could be in a bigger body and suffering from an eating disorder but have otherwise perfect bloodwork. Someone could be in a smaller body and have a heart attack or diabetes. Health, all kinds of illness, and ED/disordered eating occurs across the ENTIRE spectrum of bodies.⠀ ⠀ This isn’t to say we’re all horrible people and shame on us for ever having those thoughts EVER. It’s a common product of the environment you’ve been brought up in and exposed to. But the next time something like that comes up, think about WHY you may be having that thought and WHERE it’s really coming from.⠀ ⠀ What questions do you have about this topic? If you’re interested in learning more, I’ve tagged a few fantastic accounts in the picture.

GAINING WEIGHT & BEING COOL WITH IT:⁣ ⁣ Truly healing our relationship with food & our bodies comes from looking at things far BEYOND the black & white.⁣ ⁣ Your immediate belief (one that is conditioned by diet culture) will be that skinnier always = being happier, confident & worthy and a bigger body does not.⁣ ⁣ But let’s look deeper. ⁣ When you had the “perfect body” or reached your goal weight, what did your life look like? Were you counting or tracking every SINGLE calorie you ate? Did you feel guilty when you ate “BAD”, so much so that it caused you severe anxiety & stress? Did you panic when the server brought you your salad with the dressing on, instead of on the side? Or you ate more than a serving size? Did you lay in bed at night...hungry? Were you overexercising? Tired? Isolated? Actually...unhappy? If you really stopped & thought about it? Get clear on this. Do you want that?⁣ ⁣ A PERFECT BODY DOES NOT = A PERFECT LIFE.⁣ ⁣ The girl on the right is happy. Not because of her body. Because of what happened in her life, when she let go of needing to desperately find happiness in her body. She stopped skipping breakfast, & started eating breakfast. She stopped counting calories, & w/ time learned how to listen to & respect her hunger, fullness, & body and eat what she WANTS. She threw out her scale, eliminating a big trigger for making her feel like crap & created stable worth away from weight which isn’t conditional. She freed up the time she used to spend OBSESSING about food, losing weight, eating less fat, carbs, calories, macros, dieting & what she USED to look like, and used it for building a BETTER life.⁣ ⁣ Are things PERFECT? NOPE! Do I still consider my body, size, weight? YEP. But does it rule & dictate my life? NOPE. When I stopped dieting did I give up, get lazy & eat like crap? NOPE. Do I eat well as a form of self-love & respect, acknowledging how I FEEL vs. if it’s bad/good? YEP! Do I feel more balanced, calm, less stressed? YES ♥️.⁣ ⁣ Are you ready to break free? I take private clients! Head to the link in my bio to learn more. I help women break the diet/binge cycle for good so they can feel free around food & confident in their body.⚡️

WHO CHALLENGES YOU?⁣ ⁣ lauraschoenfeldrd and I struck up a friendship a few years ago, and today we met in person for the very first time! finally

We’ve left each other a loooooot of Voxer messages over the years and have spent hours talking on podcasts and projects together. ⁣ ⁣ One of the many things I love about her is that she’s an incredible sounding board, reflecting things back but through a lens of “is that really true?” in the kindest way possible. fiercelove ⁣ ⁣ She challenges me to be more honest with myself, to step aside from limiting beliefs, and to rise to strength in times where I don’t feel strong. ⁣ ⁣ This, IMO, is what real friends and relationships do for us…meet us with care and love while also saying “yeahhhhh stop playing small right now.” ⁣ ⁣ Tag a friend who challenges you! ⁣ ⁣ PC: Laura 💕

Who did some kind of shopping this weekend!? We shopped but no meal prepping here 😜 ......... Sometimes exploring over the weekends is better than prepping for the week. Food and Farmers Market fun, while sampling all the fresh produce. Do you have a favorite market or shore you shop at!? .......... I know shopping at the farmers market isn't available to everyone but you can also order ugly produce boxes online or at least try to buy local products at the grocery store! ............ Why you should shop Local!? 1️⃣Freshly picked, in season produce is at its peak flavor 2️⃣Supports your local farmers & economy. 3️⃣Fresh fruit & veggies are full of antioxidants and phytonutrients! 4️⃣It's a great way to get kids involved. 5️⃣Most farmers travel less than 100 miles compared to traditional stores that travel up to 1600 miles!! 6️⃣Supporting your local farmers market strengthens your community & gets everyone involved!! ________________________________________ farmersmarket eatrealfood losangeles nutritionist nutrition foodisfuel healthylifestyle eatmoreplants intuitiveeating sundayfunday plantbaseddiet livecolorfully dietitian healthspo tiuteam yogalife yoga groceryhaul selflove rdchat inspirational thenewhealthy nutritioncoach likeforlikes liveboldly strongnotskinny tiuteam weightlifting liveyourbestlife losangeles

Here’s your reminder heading into a new week that IT’S OK IF YOU DON’T LOVE YOUR BODY RIGHT NOW. ⠀ Start with body respect. Can you stop doing harm to it in the form of dieting, too much caffeine, sleep deprivation, whatever it may be? Can you decrease the harm and increase the care? ⠀ Start there and don’t get too worried that you don’t love your body. This is a long (as in LIFElong) journey. . Image and caption below from satisfynutrition ❤️ ⠀ “One thing I’ve heard/felt/seen a lot is the idea that body LOVE is the goal, and that the opposite of not liking your body is loving it - and if you have any negative thoughts about your body that means you can’t have a good relationship with it. ^ this is actually a prime example of black-and-white thinking/thinking in extremes that may be making it hard to have a good relationship with your body.”

I'm trying to change life time of bad habits surrounding my eating and food habits.. I'm not on a diet I'm just trying to give myself balance and actually eat some nutrious and fresh foods.. I'm currently reading HAES and Just Eat it (intuitive eating).. I tend to go through extremes of not eating or binge eating.. both bad for me.. I'm also working night shifts so my eating patterns are out of whack but I'm not sure how I can remedy as I'm awake and working odd hours.. anyways this is breakfast for me today I don't usually eat breakfast so I figure smoothies or something like that will be a good place to start .. i picked up some boost frozen smoothie packs to make my life easier (from countdown aka woolies for my Aussie friends) this one was a mix of pineapple, mango, passionfruit and red grapes oh and carrot but I picked some of them out . I added unsweetened coconut milk and threw in the blender.. it'll be easy enough to add some fresh stuff too.. Today’s project that might have been a little too ambitious, but that I did anyway. Harvested the basil and oregano from my tiny herb garden out front, made it into marinara, and canned it. It was a little hard on my pregnant body but it will come in so handy in a few weeks when baby gets here since I’ve basically done no freezer meals this time around! Fear. Shame. Anxiety. Guilt. Disgust. These are all things I have and continue to feel relative to my body. All as a result of the pressure and reinforcement I have received throughout my life. Weighed and compared to societal ideals, I have struggled to find not only peace but basic neutrality with my body. A state of being in which I recognize that my body exists as it is and requires no change or modification. Every day I work towards that elusive neutrality. I seek out others who exist in bodies that are similar or bigger. Others who have found that neutrality. Others who feel slightly more peace. I manage the digestive pains and questionable food sensitivities. The rolls when I sit. The subtle tightening of my pants as my body changes positions. I hope some day that I’ll be an example of that neutrality. That peace. Today, I focus on trying to get one step closer. Nothing more.

M I N D F U L L I V I N G ⁣⁣🥥 ⁣⁣ for me, is caring about our actions, what we take in & share with others. ⁣⁣ Whether that is food, content, words, serivices or energy. 💫⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve been playing a little game and doing a “mindful audit” on my life. Bringing awareness to my day to day, and noticing what areas of life need a little more attention and what are some “habits” that need to go. It’s so wild, because noticing where i’m slacking has motivated me to spend more time doing things that bring me bliss.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For a quick “Mindful Life Audit” ask yourself these questions: ⁣⁣ How am I nourishing my body? ⁣⁣ How am I honoring my creativity? ⁣⁣ How am I stimulating my mind? ⁣⁣ How am I expressing my emotions? ⁣⁣ How am I building mindful connections? ⁣⁣ How am I growing? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Let whatever first pop up in your mind be the answer. If nothing comes up, then write down an action you can take this week to answer your question. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When I started working with people I realized we rarely check in on ourselves! But I believe we’re better version of ourselves when we do, at least I am 🌸⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Take a second to check in. You can even ask yourself “ What do I need most right now?”

Food combining review 🍽 I truly believe in being connected to self and following your intuition. ✨And eating foods that make you feel good. 🥰 As I’ve always had digestive issues, I did like experimenting with eating a certain food group alone and doing the cleanse for 30 days. That being said, life is about experimenting and trying new things out and adapting accordingly. It definitely helped me RESET but I’m ready to reintegrate the foods I love again. I started an account called ‘Pleasure Kitchen’ which is based around the concept of feeding your body good nutritious foods and loving the process, because when you do, you absorb the nutrients better. When you treat your body with compassion and love, it responds! 🙏🏼✨ So my conclusion on food combining ? Interesting concept. Sustainable? Nope. Feels like another fad diet to me. And although some aspects make sense, I don’t like feeling restricted or deprived. [This is MY personal opinion] ⚡️ From someone who overcame disordered eating, I can’t help but feel myself falling back into obsession and anxiety and I just don’t believe in that. Although the concept sounds convincing, I personally feel best when I listen to myself and am connected to self and all eat whole foods. Alsooooo I don’t really believe there is 1 right way to eat. Personally I don’t love eating meat, so I don’t because I don’t feel good when I eat it. But I feel great when I eat fish, fresh fruits and vegetables. This cleanse has taught me to listen and connect to my body once again. I’m so glad I did the cleanse because I eliminated a bunch of unnecessary supplements, and foods that made me feel bloated, tired and uncomfortable. Trust your gut! ✨💕🙏🏼
