Menus for this week. We’ve got several soccer games and I’m honestly not even sure when because they’ve been changed 🤦🏻‍♀️ so keeping it super simple. I’ll use leftovers from tonight’s whole chicken to make chicken salad for lunch. Crockpot chicken taco recipe: Jar of your favorite salsa (I use Trader Joe’s tomatillo salsa) I sprinkle some chili powder and garlic in there 1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed) 3 chicken breasts Cook time will depend on you. I put frozen chicken breasts in and cook all day. Shred chicken and serve with all your taco faves. Next boot camp starts Sept 2. Who’s joining me? ❤️

Yesterday, I had some spare time to make a treat. Carrot cake oatmeal bake in cupcake form! I haven't done so in awhile but I needed something there so that throughout the week, I have something to go to instead of froyo. I have a huge sweet/treat tooth. ✌️SUNDAY NIGHT SALMON VIBES✌️ • If you’re sitting there beating yourself up about your food choices over the weekend - whether it was the takeaway pizza on Friday night, the pancakes at brunch this morning or perhaps the countless cocktails you had last night...PLEASE LISTEN UP ✋👂. • After a weekend of not so healthy eating, it can be tempting to try and restrict your food intake drastically or push your body to the extreme at the gym to try and “make up” for the last few days. But the truth is that this approach might actually end up doing more harm than good. The reason for this is you might then create this cycle of binging and deprivation - something we see so often in clinic. • As dietitians, people often assume our diet is “perfect” or that we don’t eat foods like burgers or chips or drink alcohol. This is far from the truth (all of our friends and family will testify to this!😂). We try to find a balance, be it 80/20 or 90/10, where 80-90% of the time we are enjoying wholesome, fresh food that is nutrient rich, satisfying and gives us optimal energy. This leaves room to enjoy the foods that may not be nutritious but provide so much enjoyment and are often consumed in social settings so also provide loads of fun 🤩. Sometimes that balance might be eating out a few times a week or it could be enjoying some choccie or a glass of wine more regularly. • So what should you do after a weekend of unhealthy eating? 🤷‍♀️Rather than thinking about what you’re going to avoid this week, focus on what you’re going to include. For example perhaps you put a bit more time into meal prep or creating healthy, balanced meals from scratch - or try and start the week with something like fish, or perhaps you could focus on getting in your 5 serves of veggies each day. We promise that this way of thinking is so much more conducive to positive health outcomes and a much healthier relationship with food 😘🥰
