My clients Katrina & Shri doing forward lunges today. Today was their first time training together and they killed their workout. Today was a Leg & Core day for both of them and they ended the workout doing a circuit together and timing each other while I started working with my next semi-private clients. It was awesome to see them working together and getting along so fast.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIIT AND LISS? "When taking a look at cardio, the real debate is between HIIT vs LISS cardio. HIIT, or High Intensity Interval Training, involves short bursts with high effort, followed by lower effort rest intervals. LISS, or Low Intensity Steady State, involves consistent effort at a steady pace for an allotted amount of time (the heart rate is usually monitored here to identify effort). Research shows that LISS forces the body to use fat as its main source of fuel for the workout, to where HIIT, due to its intensity, will use glycogen or carbohydrates as its main source of fuel. They both hold true to those statements but when the session is over, the amount of calories being burned is around the same. This statement contradicts the EPOC reasoning for why most people believe that HIIT is more beneficial. The EPOC (Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption) effect involves the body burning more calories due to an increased oxygen consumption post exercise in the hours following the workout. Compare that to LISS which is said to not have a form of EPOC effect at all. As for research on the effects of EPOC in terms of calories burned, there are multiple studies showing that the effect is not substantial and should not influence one form of cardio over another. In ‘layman’s terms’, HIIT has very high caloric expenditures followed by very low caloric expenditures, and LISS has a stead state of caloric expenditure. So, at the end of the workout, this would mean they pretty much equal out in terms of calories being burned. So, which one should you go with? This leads to the time and exertion of each

Muscular Imbalances ⚖️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Long story short, muscular imbalances occur when a muscle or group of muscles is used more frequently than others. This usually occurs on opposite sides of the body ↔️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I didn’t know this even existed until earlier this year when taking progress photos, my glutes are different on each side. Since reading more into this, I have noticed that my right glute and right leg in general is slightly weaker than my left. As growing and strengthening my glutes has been a main goal of mine for a while now I have been reading up on how to get my right glute as strong as the left 🍑 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After a lot of reading and research, I read to always start single leg exercises with my weaker leg and it should eventually catch up. I also read about doing some extra reps on the weak leg in order to help build up strength which I often do as well. I have really found that mind-muscle connection has massively helped by really thinking about my right glute whilst training 💭 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know we aren’t supposed to be symmetrical so I’m not striving for that but I definitely want to make my right peach as perky and as strong as the left side 💪🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Has anyone else found they’ve experienced muscles imbalances? 4 months progress working with shanearnold6729 - some solid improvements on this bloke - and who said you can't grow legs in your 40s? 💪 89kg in both pics 😎 Prioritised legs and back (sadly didn't take starting back shots) and it shows , while adding quality mass elsewhere too. Credit to this guy- tracked his macros all the way thru trained like an animal, and readily took to my training methodology. We pushed up his cals to an all time high for 12 weeks , followed by a 4 week cut leading to a fam holiday. Belts and Straps! I’ve been using a belt for a while when lifting and recent started using straps. For those of you who are unsure whether to use them or you’re currently sitting on the fence, here’s a quick insight for you; A belt reduces stress on the lower back while the person is lifting in an upright position and it prevents back hyperextension during overhead lifts. I’ve struggled with back problems for years and this has been a huge help when training. Straps serve the purpose of keeping the grip strong and secure so that the bar does not slip. When pulling, the lifter creates a tremendous amount of power output and straps keep the bar secure in the lifters hands.
