Yes!!!! Dinner win last night and my teenage son actually asked for seconds 👏🏻 Anyone else have to hide veggies in the food to get your kids to eat them? I hustled last night to get this started before my son got home so he wouldn’t see that the homemade pasta sauce I was making was actually made out of carrots & zucchini 🤫 He loved it, but I’m sure the cheese helped!! How do you trick your kids to eat veggies 🥦🥕🥬 . . lifewithteenagers pickyeaters eatyourveggies veggiesfirst almostemptynest momofboys pnwmom vancouverwamom dinnerwin

The Division of Responsibility for feeding, which comes to us from Ellyn Satter (a truly amazing feeding therapist), is often a very novel idea for parents. I won’t lie, in the beginning, this was a tricky mindset change for me to make. Most of us were not brought up under this “Division”. Some of us were brought up in the “clean plate club” and were expected to eat every drop of food we were served. Some of us had parents that served 4 different meals to satisfy everyone at the table. Some of us remember mealtimes as stressful. And most likely, however mealtime was engrained into your life as a child is how you’ve set it up for your children. So what does this “Division” really mean? It means as the caregiver you: -Decide when to serve meals and snacks. Having a predictable routine allows you to say, “We already finished breakfast and you decided you were full. It’s not snack time yet. But we will have our snack soon! Would you like water until then?” -Decide where meals and snacks are served. Are you a kitchen table family, or a card table family, or somewhere in between? Regardless, if asked, your children can answer the question, “Where is it ok to eat?” -Decide what is served. You are the adult. You decide what to buy at the store and therefore what is brought into the home to eat. You also decide what meals to serve and what is offered for snack time. And then guess what? Your “Responsibility” in feeding is done. For our kids the “Division” means they: -Decide what, of the options served, they are going to eat. And -Decide how much food to eat (whether that happens to be a lot or none at all for this particular meal/snack.) Have I set your head a-spinnin’? This is just an introductory post, and my goal is to share this and then start conversations! Share your comments and questions below!! 👇🏻 divisionofresponsibilityinfeeding feedingtherapy pediatricfeeding pediatricspeechtherapy ellynsatter speechtherapy pickyeaters granolajargonandgibberish

Si Comel Suka Banana 🍌🍌🍌 ! Tq mommy cantik sebab sudi share gambar si kecil comel makan baby & toddlers foods by babysadoohq 💜 babysadoohq nak kongsi pengalaman kami bersama anda 😉. Berdasarkan pemerhatian kami, setiap baby punyai minat terhadap sesuatu rasa 🙂. Tak semua sama & tak semua boleh terima Ada yg suka manis😋 Ada yg suka masam 😋 Ada yg suka creamy 😋 . Untuk permulaan makan, mommy jgn cepat heartbroken 😅. Bila kali pertama ajar baby makan tapi mereka menolak, bukan bererti mereka xsuka. Mereka perlukan masa untuk serasikan rasa selain dari susu / susu ibu 😊 Nanti ada yg nangis bucu pintu mengadu dkt daddy anak tanak makan kali pertama beri 😂😂😂 . Mommy boleh amalkan 3 day rules utk kenal pasti alahan bayi terhadap sesuatu makanan 😁. Klu bayi anda xsuka dgan rasa manis, mommy boleh try dgan rasa creamy sperti buah avocado 🥑 Itulah yg dilakukan oleh mommy cantik ni 😉. Hari demi hari mencuba akhirnya, si kecil comel suka rasa manis seperti buah pisang 🍌. Opsss ! Bukan manis gula yer 😉 . Question- Do you find feeding kids overwhelming?⁣🙅‍♀️ ⁣ I recently had a conversation with a worried mom who told me she has tried everything to get their kid to eat. But nothing is working. She was overwhelmed. And she didn't know if what she was doing was the right thing. Everyone right from elders to friends to the internet gave her contrasting advice. She was frustrated because none of it was helping her kid eat any better.⁣😰 ⁣ Moms, I feel you.❤ Feeding kids is not that simple. You might be trying to have a positive meal environment but might still not be able to figure out the reason for food rejection. ⁣ ⁣ Or you might be serving a variety🍓🥦🌽🍳 but with the wrong schedule,⏰ your kid still refuses to eat.⁣ ⁣ Trying to figure out all this alone is stressful and confusing!⁣ ⁣ That is why I created my 1:1 virtual coaching program. To take the stress off of you and empower you with the knowledge to reduce picky eating!⁣ ⁣ In my framework, I help you put in place all this in 4 simple actionable steps so your kid can start eating all foods. Have you ever tried feeding your child a second bite of something he/she didn’t like? Nearly impossible, right? The jaws of life are needed to get their mouths to open for a second spoonful. It’s especially frustrating if you’ve really put time and effort into making something for them and YOU think it tastes great. Food pouches are a great supplement to any meal...especially if it’s been a particularly difficult mealtime. If you’re making your own blends, I always recommend taking a fruit, veggie, and/or grain that you know they’ll like and add one more thing they’ve (and possibly you) have never tried. Tamarind anyone?

Just a mama bear out here fiercely loving her little cub 🐻 ((swipe to see all the sweetness of my little ravioli face babe 😆))⁣ ⁣ So if you’ve been watching my stories, you know that I’m totally obsessed with this Mama Bear sweater that I was so kindly gifted from bloomingjelly_aimee from Blooming Jelly. So much so that I’ve been wearing here in South Florida and it is no where near cold enough for a sweater. 😅 ⁣ ⁣ Side note/question for mama’s with picky eaters: The babe is getting to this stage. 😐 He used to eat any and everything I put in front of him but has been getting fussier about food. He’s covered in spaghetti sauce in these photos because the only thing he would eat for lunch is pizza ((ps: he thinks anything with sauce is pizza lolol)) so amyskitchen to the rescue with some delicious Organic Spinach Raviolis. ⁣ ⁣ 🐻🌿 My question is this: what are your foolproof toddler approves snacks and meals? 🌿🐻 I’m running low on ideas and need to add some winners to my bag of tricks!

Back to the grind! I love doing events and traveling but there’s something nice about being home with nothing impending on the calendar. ⠀ ⠀ Time to focus on getting our new website ready, build up more content, and having a baby ah! ⠀ ⠀ This salmon fried rice by the way is killer and featured in next week’s prepandrally menu. I love eating it with seaweed snacks, but use these recipes and adjust any way that works for you. ⠀ ⠀ Fun fact about seaweed snacks..Andi and Jo always refused to eat or even taste them. How did that change? My sister sent me a video of her 2 year old munching on them (was the funniest video) and that inspired them to try it. Sure enough..now they love these crispy things. I truly believe picky eating has a lot to do with context. It matters how it’s served, who’s eating it, where they’re eating it etc.⠀ ⠀ I’ve gotten so many people tell me their kid tried a certain food because Andi and Jolie were eating it on IG. Kids man....so funny! ⠀ ⠀ Do you feel this is true with your kiddos?

When first starting GFCF, it’s important to be patient and respond with a firm kindness during this process. Respond in a way that lets them know you understand their frustrations, but this is how it is going to be now. Try not to show your own frustrations. Our kids pick up on the parent's energy for better or worse, so try not to show your own frustration. They may not fully understand why you’re suddenly not allowing them to have their favorite foods, so respond with compassion keeping that in mind.

Grassfed meat sauce cooked with mushrooms and shredded zucchini over spaghetti noodles topped with raw cheddar and a slice of sourdough bread. I initially started adding “hidden veggies” to our food as or very picky 4 year old would not eat certain foods/textures which he use to eat before age 3. Earlier this year he was diagnosed with autism which explained his picky eating, helped me understand him and work around him. I no longer hide the veggies, he sees them and may put up a little fight but will eventually eat them. He went from eating noddles, marinara sauce, and cheese only to adding meat into the sauce and now meat sauce with veggies. We still have a long to go and that’s ok. autismautismawarenesspickyeatersrealfoodjusteatrealfoodrealingredientscookingfromscratchkaleinitwithrealfood

People always assume that because I’m into health and wellness, that my kids must have very sophisticated palates. I wish it were true. I have one kiddo who eats really well, and one who fights about dinner every night just because he can. And so, we have “Try It Thursday” in our house, where we try new foods. Tonight we “tried” pomegranate. It was a huge hit! Here’s the catch; we’ve tried pomegranate before! Did you know it can take 8-15 times for a picky eater to accept a food? Keep offering new foods, offer them in different varieties, or take a break and offer them again later on. kalelovingmamma pickyeaters healthykids happymamma simplewellness pomegranate antioxidants

It's true your body doesn't have to have dairy... . But, it is an excellent (and relatively cheap) source of protein, calcium, vitamin D, riboflavin, and phosphorus . ("excellent source" means it contains over 20% of daily recommendations for adults so that percentage is even higher for kids). . It also is a good source of some nutrients that are lacking in most American diets...potassium, B12, calcium and vitamin D. . So, I am an advocate for introducing and encouraging dairy to kids in most circumstances! . If you're little one won't eat dairy on their own, try adding it to smoothies, using it in baked goods, or making yogurt popsicles. . For those under 1, make sure to hold off on cow's milk until 12 months... . Feel free to ask me any other dairy related questions below⬇️ . pickyeating pickyeater toddlerlife pickyeaters toddlerfood toddlerfoodideas healthyfamilyfood healthyfamilymeals mommyhood mommylife kidfood healthykidsfood healthykidfood busymomlife registereddietitian kidapproved feedingtoddlers toddlermeals toddlermom toddlermomlife parentingtips sahmlife dietitianmom dietitianapproved toddlermealideas toddlernutrition momlife

Post by👉 autism.nutritionist ・・・ We haven’t talked about this in a while, but it’s so important! ⠀⠀ When presenting your child with new foods, the smaller the better! ⠀⠀ Small sizes are less threatening and more manageable (plus less wasteful!). ⠀⠀ You can always add more. ⠀⠀ For kids with more severe ASD or eating issues, you can start as small as a grain of rice. Once this portion is approachable, increase it a little bit. ⠀⠀ Slow and steady! Today is World Diabetes Day! . This past summer, I spent time working with kids affected by Type 1 diabetes. I’ll never forget what one of the kids said to me: “Being at camp is the best because everybody has diabetes, so it’s like no one has it!” . For anyone that is living with diabetes or has someone close to them that does, they can understand the impact it has on your day to day life. Every food or drink you consume, every time you participate in physical activity, every time you’re sick, and every time you’re managing stress, are some of the factors you need to think about that can affect your blood sugar levels. Diabetes is always on your mind! . Having high or low blood sugar levels can have debilitating effects on your health, from dizziness and headaches to seizures and even death. Controlling your blood sugars is vital. . Many kids with diabetes are picky eaters. Many of them have allergies. Many kids try to avoid carbs to avoid spikes in their blood sugar levels. It’s a complicated disease to live with and manage. . Working at Camp Huronda, allowed kids to experience camp in a way that normalized their diabetes so that kids could be kids and parents could worry a little less. . We don’t understand what causes diabetes but we are getting closer to finding out. Help make a difference. Consider donating money, clothing, or even your time to a very worthy organization. diabetescanada dc_dcamps . . . enddiabetes worlddiabetesday november november14 diabetesawarenessmonth diabetes camphuronda diabetescanada supportacause educator mealtime pickyeaters pickyeating kidnutrition kidfood kids kidswithdiabetes parentlife momlife parenting fussyeaters healthyeaters nutrition childnutrition feedingkids parentingishard healthykids dietitian nutritionist kiddiekornernutrition

A little tbt for ya from 2015... Yep, that means my oldest wasn't even two years old yet when she made me a proud dietitian mom at preschool. So just in case my recent blog posts talking about consumption in kids had you thinking I was shaming anyone, well...there you have it 😆🙈

Eating dinner early tonight! Copy cat KFC bowls for us. 8 pts for the whole thing! I also mixed in cauliflower to the potatoes. It makes them taste super real, and more filling. I really wish I could convince my kids they didn’t have cauliflower in them, but there is no getting past them with that. 😑 Anyone have any tricks up their sleeves to get their kiddos to eat veggies? myww wwcommunity teamblue weightlossjourney pickyeaters dinnertime

Does your child like bread? . Awesome! My toddler loves bread and it has allowed me to help him try new foods! . First I swear he pretty much would only eat freezer waffles... . Now he tries different types of muffins and breads! Like these lemon blueberry muffins! . Plus, I make sure to add whole grains for an extra fiber boost to help prevent constipation and pack in extra nutrients. . If you are still in the "plain freezer waffle" or "plain bread" stage start small - try a freezer waffle with blueberries in it, then move to fresh blueberries on top of it, then move to blueberry muffins, etc.! . I'd love to help you use the foods your kids currently love as a bridge to trying out new foods! . Small changes like this actually work to help kids overcome picky eating! . Comment below your child's favorite go-to food and i'll help give ideas for how to use it as a bridge to new foods! . pickyeating pickyeater toddlerlife pickyeaters toddlerfood toddlerfoodideas healthyfamilyfood healthyfamilymeals mommyhood mommylife kidfood healthykidsfood healthykidfood busymomlife registereddietitian kidapproved feedingtoddlers toddlermeals toddlermom toddlermomlife parentingtips sahmlife dietitianmom dietitianapproved toddlermealideas toddlernutrition momlife

This morning, my mom was trying to prove that she actually cooked when I was growing up by showing me her recipes. And to every one of them I kept saying “that’s barely a recipe”, which is true, but it got me thinking... What most of us actually need is not another recipe. There are millions (maybe billions?) on the internet, so if a recipe was the problem you’d have found it by now. So what DO you need? For most people I work with it’s this: . 🧂The right tools: which can help speed cooking up. A really simple example would be the right knife or a salt cellar (which a former student told me CHANGED her cooking) . 🥜 Your setup: organization has never been and will never be my strong suit. But if searching for what you need is a constant struggle or requires you to help everyone in the house find what they need, then this is a great place to focus. . 🥗 Your supplies: having the right ingredients and spices on hand can help you throw together a meal you feel good about at any moment - no recipe required. Right now, I know I could make pasta with sauce and sausage, bean soup, and a stir-fry (and this is by memory from the airport because I have that level of clarity of what I have on hand) . 🤯 The right mindset: honestly? Without this you’re toast. The stories of how you’re a bad cook, need a recipe, have picky kids, or what a meal looks like may not be serving you anymore. Obviously, there are MANY variables to consider, which is why I’ve opened up one-on-one coaching spots! So if you’re a busy parent who’s ready to feed your family well without all the fuss and frustration, let’s chat. TIPS FOR KIDS!! One of my biggest tips for parents who have picky eaters on their hands is this: let them help you cook!! When children are involved in the process, they will be PROUD of what they helped make, and more likely to eat it. Helping in the kitchen will give them the knowledge they need early on, so that they are set up for a lifetime of cooking and preparing meals for themselves and their families. Not only is it great for the kids to learn and have the hands-on experience, it’s a great way to bond with your children after a long day of work, even if dinner does take a little bit longer and get a little messier. Invite your kiddos to help cook more often, i’m sure they will LOVE it! Here is my 2.5 year old helping us cut some cilantro for our burrito bowls last night. We got these amazing kidsafe knives from amazon. They aren’t sharp, but they are firm enough to cut through things that aren’t very hard! Steak fajitas👋🏼😍 Tender steak strips marinated in a zesty lime sauce and sautéed with a medley of colourful bell peppers, these are an easy and delicious dinner idea! A fun meal for kids, too, and with fresh ingredients and an option for adding layers of “extras” like salsa or guac, you shouldn’t need much convincing. Enjoy!
