A Day of Protein.... the VEGAN version! ⁣ ⁣ I know, your girl’s lost it. So I’ll say in advance this wasn’t my ideal day - I had to bump up my cals slightly in order to hit that P number and I also wasn’t keen on relying so heavily on shakes and bars as protein sources. ⁣ ⁣ In my day to day I prefer to look at Protein Bars as ‘chocolate with a lil extra benefit’ and I have half a scoop of protein in the morning which is a replacement for flour in pancakes. ⁣ ⁣ Do I think I’ll be going vegan? Not any time soon. BUT I do think with a little practice and exploring some more food options I could definitely be hitting the correct P and cals with more whole sources. And this genuinely surprised me but in the last month tofu has become and absolute staple and I’ll now only have meat for one meal a day - still hitting my P target. ⁣ ⁣ I’m interested to see how I can adjust this to life back in the UK and the different options there are sure to be! But proof it Really doesn’t have to be steak or chicken to hit your protein target!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I chatted a little bit in the Carnivore version about WHY we include Protein, but here’s some tips on how: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ - Put your protein sources into a tracking app like My Fitness Pal the day BEFORE - then build the rest of your nutrition (carbs and fats) around that base structure ⁣⁣ - Think outside the box. Honestly, it doesn’t have to be chicken, broc and rice endlessly. I’ve had a few clients now who are becoming increasingly conscious about their meat consumption and I fully understand. But it doesn’t mean your goals have to be compromised. Next time your shopping spend some TIME looking for alternative sources. Google yourself crazy one night on new recipe ideas, invest a little effort into the process ⁣⁣ - It doesn’t need to be a total overhaul of your veggie diet.
