Seed cycling... what is it and what does it set out to achieve? • Firstly, as women, it’s important to understand your natural fertility cycle. Typically your menstrual cycle can last from anywhere between 25-35 days, with the ideal sitting around the 28-30 day mark. Your cycle is broken up into two phase, the follicular phase and the luteal phase. • The follicular phase occurs from days 1-13, day one being the first day of your bleed cycle. This is the phase where the follicle on your ovary, responsible for releasing an egg each month and ovulation, matures. This allows for the egg to develop so that its ready to pop at around day 14. The primary hormone in this phase is oestrogen. • The luteal phase comprises ovulation and occurs from days 14-28. This is where we start to see preparation of fertilisation and if not, then the commencement of your next cycle. Pumpkin seeds often go under the radar as an ideal pick for an add to salads or bake into breads as a nutritional powerhouse. 🎃__________________________ Perhaps not idea for weight loss objectives due to energy density per serving but...for gaining diets or high calorie performance needs they are 🤴 ______________________________ They have 30g grams of protein in a 100g portion. If you eat a whole bag, yes. Maybe not the best. Every day I portion out what I feel like my body needs. Nuts / seeds have great macro and micro nutrients. Each one has different benefits and even helps different parts of the body. . I won't go through all of them. But Brazil nut is my favorite. They contain the mineral selenium. Dried chia-seed mucilage foam 180x (SEM). The mucilage of the chia seed, like the mucilage of the basil seed, absorbs water and evokes the eggs of aquatic animals. The polysaccharides that constitute these mucilage are quite hydrophilic and can hold on to many times their weight in water. The water in this specimen boiled out and we were left with a network of “caverns” stabilized by the dehydration of those polysaccharides. Not the image I was hoping for, but interesting nonetheless.

Another day of being good. Breakfast was homemade raw cacao and orange overnight oats with Greek yoghurt, buttered kiwi berries and flax seeds. Dinner was a hubby made trio of risotto..... seafood and white wine, mushroom and parmesan, sprout and Stilton. Di rientro da Genova per aggiornamenti sono ispirato a condividere con voi un pensiero sui superfood. . . Cosa sono questi misteriosi alimenti “super”?! Forse niente di che in molti casi, a parte per il nome figo! Sono alimenti esotici e/o di nuovo interesse/introduzione nel proprio paese (alcuni superfood all’estero sono alimenti nostrani di tutti i giorni..) e che spesso sono confusi con gli alimenti funzionali (prodotti arricchiti di qualcosa x essere “più benefici”). Tra questi cibi vi sono ad esempio le bacche di Goji: simili a piccoli pomodorini secchi e “ricchissime” di vitamine e antiossidanti ma... ricche anche di zuccheri semplici, essendo un prodotto essiccato, e di difficile acquisto in reale sicurezza (pesticidi ovunque ormai e provenienza spesso fuorviante). Ma il vero nocciolo della questione è che il mio mantra recita che “la dose fa il veleno” e questo anche in senso opposto: è la “dose che fa l’effetto benefico”. Pertanto, mentre quando si parla di quinoa ad esempio è facile avere un metodo di misura dicendo di mangiarla spesso perché i benefici sono rapportati a quantità e grammature “mangiabili” quotidianamente, per le bacche di goji o simili? E i Semi di chia? Vi sfido a mangiarne o trovare chi ne mangia 50-100 g al giorno e quindi ad avere quei tanti bei milligrammi di vitamine ecc riportate sui pacchetti. Dunque, niente in contrario a bacche e semi vari in quantità moderate, anzi, purché siano di qualità, ma attenzione sempre a ragionare e non farvi fregar dal Dio pubblicità e dal cugino Dio industria che scriveranno sui pacchetti “ricco di...” perché ciò corrisponde spesso a quantità non realmente consumabili x avere l’effetto descritto. Concludendo: bacche, semi ecc x colazione? Pre o post workout (a seconda)? Nella insalate?
