Blacked out by N.M. Healing is a process, but if you work thru it, you will make it out much better than you were before. They call it PTSD. But who knows. Is Muscle Soreness a Good Indicator of Muscle Growth? Muscle soreness, also know as DOMS (or Delayed Onset Muscles Soreness) is often associated with getting a good workout. But is it really a good indicator of muscle growth? As we know, lifting weights causes microscopic tears in our muscle cells. With proper nutrition and recovery time, the muscle are then repaired bigger and stronger than before. When muscle is tender to touch day or two after training, this generally means you’ve caused enough damage to stimulate muscle growth. You can usually take this as sigh of job well done. That being said, there is a point of diminishing returns when training is taken to the point of that muscle being painful to touch. If your muscles become too damaged to be repaired and course you a lot of pain, you maybe be doing more harm then good. This might be an indication that you’ve done too in your previous workout and should dial it back a little next time. Also, if you aren’t sore 24-48 hours training that doesn’t mean necessarily mean you didn’t have an effective workout. In fact, if you’ve been consistent in your training routine and have been steadily increasing volume you should expect to be very sore while still building muscle. Not Sore = Still progressing. A little Sore = Good if still progressing. Very Sore = Progressed too quickly. Heard this comment this week: Getting help and seeing someone like a psychologist is easy. Crying is weak and for girls... My response: No it’s the hardest thing to do and takes a very strong person. You have to strip down all the masks and all the barriers that you have spent years behind and lay it all bare. It’s scary as hell. You have to acknowledge and deal with things you have been suppressing for the longest time. Crying means you are finally dealing with all the emotions and that’s hard. A man or a woman has every right to cry!! Saying it’s weak is why suicide rates for young men is so high because they don’t ask for help and hold it all in. They don’t reach out because they don’t want to be seen as “weak”. If you are reading this you are not weak. If you need help reach out. That is the most admirable and strongest thing you can do. When I first reached out for help it was scary. When I first started talking to others about my problems I was petrified. What would they think of me, do I sound like I’m complaining, what if they don’t like me anymore, what if they think my life isn’t that bad and I have nothing to complain about. No one in this world knows what you have been through fully except for you. While it’s scary to talk to people (especially because there are so many who don’t understand and judge) you need to do it. Honestly you are helping yourself and that’s brave and strong. Also by being open you are helping others. Even if they never tell you and you never see the effects I can tell you that by simply being vulnerable with the right people you can and will change lives. If you ever need someone I am here. Never go through it alone. Cry, scream and get help. Killed it squatting with my bro @thabigdog32 💪 Was feeling a smidge off as I went up in weight but I managed to tie my record of 5 with 365 and at a much lighter bodyweight so PR'd technically. 😁 Managed a 2 sets of 10 135, set of 5 185, set of 5 225, set of 5 275, set of 5 315, set of 5 345, set of 5 365 bodyweight PR, set of 8 315 pause reps PR, set of 10 315, and a set of 5 315 tempo reps. 🤘 Solid session!
