Today I focused on training abs and not only just a section of my abs but all three. Each exercise I did targeted the transverse abdominals, Rectus abdominals and Obliques. The abs are a strong fundamental body part to dancers as it helps stabilise and ground movements. Without core activation movements will become every hard as there is no centre point of gravity 💕

210kgx5 Block Clean Pulls. If do decide to these supra heavy block pulls the most likely mistake you'll make is having your shoulders behind the bar too early and then leaning back at the top. This defeats the purpose of the movement which is to use our legs and traps together to maximum effect. When we lean back we'll end up using our lower back more instead of pulling up with our traps because they're too far behind the bar resulting in the only direction available for them to go is back, instead of up. A second flaw might be to begin the pull up too early and come up onto our toes too soon. This is @tgotstrong, when we first met, her aim was #fatloss and help alleviate her #backpain (which we did) for which she had been seeing various health professionals. She had never #weightrained before and couldn’t #squat. Through different methods of #resistancetraining we started to make her #strong and the #fatloss came with it as she was now controlling her #food. Teresa went from 18.8st of largely #fatmass when we met to 12st of mostly #muscle now, won a #strongwoman competition and become one of the strongest women I’ve met. She has never done traditional #cardio to do this. - - - - - - - - - - - The road has not been easy for her, she recently had her #gallbladder removed, had #sepsis and was diagnosed with #type1 #diabetes. None of this has stopped her, in fact it would be fair to say that weight lifting has saved her life. For the diabetes, it creates a better state for insulin sensitivity and leads towards being able to lower her #insulin dosage. This hasn’t been an easy road #mentally either, there are huge ups and downs, but she has powered through it to get the work done. So I think I redeemed myself with dinner after my gourmet donut binge earlier today 😆 . Greek-style baked Atlantic salmon for dinner tonight 😋 . So easy to prepare and cook, mix potatoes and red onion cut into wedges with minced garlic, oregano and olive oil, bake for 30 minutes in a baking tray/dish then add fresh tomato and lemon wedges and kalamata olives and bake for another 10 minutes, then add Atlantic salmon and bake for a final 10 minutes or until salmon is cooked through. Super geeky! I have a super cute workout journal I got for £4 as a way to keep me on track for my fitness goals. I document my goals for the week (related to my health/ wellbeing) and then tick it off as I do it! I use post it notes to plan the next week and as I complete each activity I then record it in my nice book as a moment to reflect on slowly achieving goals. Today I planned a yoga class but I managed to do the 2.5hr workshop yesterday despite my bad back so decided to cancel this mornings class and be kind to my body. Debating whether to go on the static bike this afternoon- will see how the back is feeling.
