Good morning! I’ve been trying to bulk the last few weeks but my anxiety and stress has been making it so hard! I have been so far off my calorie goal it’s insane. Lost 4lbs and I’m feeling extremely frustrated. Putting on muscle requires calorie surplus. This is when it’s important to keep in mind that it’s not the end of the world, I can wake up a try again. This is what a typical meal looks like for me in the cafeteria, I call it a burrito bowl 🌯, but really it just ends up being a pile of mush 😂. Either way it’s still dang tasty 😋! In this bowl I have lettuce, white rice, black beans, salsa, and guacamole 😍. Oh, and you can’t forget the jalapeños 🌶😉! - Like I mentioned in my last post, I have A LOT of work lately and it’s been overwhelming to say the least 😬. It just feels like one thing after the other, like you can’t catch a break! Know the feeling? I think we all do. - I guess I just want to say that things will and do get better, I’ve found it just takes a little faith and trust 😉. It is sometimes hard to trust the process and sometimes it feels like you will never come out the other side. But I PROMISE that if you just keep going and persevering, you will come out on the other side. - It’s hard to trust that things will be okay when the stress and feelings have already lasted to long. This is how how I feel right now in a few aspects of my life, like these feelings will never end. But I know they will and I know that if I turn around now that it will only take longer to get where I want to be 😌. - Either way, that’s my little rant for the day 😆. Now before you watch these squat videos, let me explain myself 🙈 I am aware that I am not quite to depth in these videos. But this is progress and the heaviest I have had on my back since May/June when my hip started playing up. My 1RM back then was 75kg, and I built up slowly to that today (first vid) - almost didn’t make it back up 🤣🤣 but I did so I’m taking that as a win. I was also programmed to do 2x2x70kg (vids 2 and 3) - again not pretty but progress seeing as I failed twice on a 70 last week. Then even though I could have stopped there, I did a couple of triples at 60kg (one set shown in last vid). Anyone that’s watching these, feel free to comment and let me l know if you would class that last video as a squat. I think looking at these videos I need to go back to the lighter squats until I’m fully mobile / confident again (although I’ll wait and see what oakstrengthemma has to say) 2016 Kate Mitch would have thrown the towel in long before now, but this new Kate Mitch ain’t a quitter and I realise it may take a while. The time will pass anyway so I’m gonna use it to keep grinding. Alarm went off at 4.15am this morning and was merrily flashing away on silent on my bedside table so I slept right through it and had to train at lunch time instead. Reflecting on this weekend....I can’t help but come away as a woman feeling so empowered. Powerlifting has nothing to do with how lean you are, how much your abs pop, if your waist is small enough, if you booty is big enough. It is about you and the weights and doing more than you ever thought you could. Being around so many strong women this weekend was so enlightening for me. It’s time for a mind shift. I am no longer on a weightloss journey but I often get asked about my weightloss journey so the dates and weights are included. I started my journey at about 240 lbs. Though I speculate it may have been closer to 250 as I stopped weighing myself at 240 and wanted to pretend I wasn't as big as I really was. The picture on the left was a couple months after I started doing yoga, walking and a little running. The center picture was yoga and running. I now strength train and do even more running. I’ve been on my death bed for the past three days now. My throat is killing me, i’m stuffed up and I just feel weak and have no energy. I haven’t been sick in a long time & it sucks. I never take days off the gym because I love it so much, but today I had to skip because I woke up feeling so awful. Not taking any medicine because I hate the way it makes me feel and it makes me feel worse. I’ve been living off of emergency C and ludens for my throat. 📢PB ALERT📣 Okay so admittedly this was actually from a few weeks ago but I never got round to uploading it, and I'm super proud of it so here we go. 200kg Squat! Raw, beltless at ~88kg bodyweight (for any powerlifting types who might care) I really surprised myself with this, and I only even attempted it because @_omega_fitness_ and the other PT's here at thegymgroupnorwichhallroad told me I could do it. I've never been more grateful for a bit of peer pressure! My strength won't be going up at all now until my weight loss is finished, so I'm really pleased I was able to do this, and I literally can't wait til I've reached my goal weight so I can start getting bigger and stronger again. have you ever driven yourself bananas 🍌? yesterday, while driving to my self-defense class, I reached for my phone and started scrolling through Instagram! who does that?? 🙋🏻‍♀️ I had told myself over and over that I would stop using my phone while driving, and yet here I was ignoring myself and doing the complete opposite... Instead of skinny, I'm going for strong. Three months ago I was fixated on the scale, chasing a number that meant nothing to me but somehow defined my success. 6 weeks into training with Scott, I realized I needed to reset my personal goals and redefine what healthy meant to me. Chasing a number or size was no longer motivating and I wanted to see what my body could DO. Over the past few months, I've embraced my not so dainty shoulders and set new PRs in every lift. This body of mine is healthy and capable and simply trying to keep it small and quiet has felt like a waste. So here's to new goals and new standards that are all my own. Scott + my 7am workout crew, thank you for pushing me, listening to me, and most of all- for being patient when I don't know a Prince song. You guys are the best.
