I can't believe it's vegan! · The critics say they wouldn't be able to tell the difference🤯 · Enjoy this spectacular cookie that doesn't use animal products: The Perfect Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie! 🍪 · Ingredients ½ cup sugar ¾ cup dark brown sugar, packed 1 teaspoon salt ½ cup refined coconut oil, melted ¼ cup non-dairy milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 ½ cups flour ½ teaspoon baking soda 4 oz vegan semi-sweet chocolate, chunks 4 oz vegan dark chocolate, chunks · Directions 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, brown sugar, salt, and coconut oil until combined. 2. Whisk in non-dairy milk and vanilla, until all sugar has dissolved and the batter is smooth. 3. Sift in the flour and baking soda, then fold the mixture with a spatula, being careful not to overmix. 4. Fold in the chocolate chunks and walnuts evenly. 5. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. 6. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). 7. Scoop the dough with an ice cream scoop onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Be sure to leave at least 2 inches of space between cookies and the edges of the pan so cookies can spread evenly. 8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cookies just begin to brown. 9. More on simplicity and cooking by the season. Right now asparagus and carrots are big in season in Switzerland so just about every meal I’ve had has included some variation of asparagus (peep the asparagus soup in second photo) or colorful 🥕. Cooking locally and by the season is way more delicious, sustainable, and makes for trying out new recipes. It also celebrates the regional agriculture as it highlights what is actually grown compared to the things we eat imported from a completely different place.

Dieting but FOREVER HUNGRY?! One of the things we track during client check-ins is hunger levels. While some hunger is inevitable when someone is in a calorie deficit, we typically don’t want to see unmanageable levels of hunger, especially given the emphasis we put on not making life too miserable when you have a fat loss goal. There are LOTS of contributing factors and hunger isn’t exclusive to being in a calorie deficit, but that said there are a few areas we recommend you start cross examining 🕵🏻‍♀️🕵🏼‍♀️ 1) could be that you’re just throwing more at it than you need to eg too low energy intake / too aggressive on the energy output. The trouble with a creating a massive deficit is that along with additional hunger that is probably unnecessary, it can start to make your training sessions less effective and means you’re making A LOT of compromises on food. Just think about whether you need to be going THAT hard 2) if too many of your calories are coming from liquids (oils, drinks, milk etc), these offer very little on the front of satiety so this might be an area to address 3) not getting enough shut eye can have a negative impact on hormones that are associated with helping to regulate hunger, so try and sort your bedtime routine out. Might be an earlier bedtime, limiting blue light from your devices, or a bit of pre-bed meditation... but don’t overlook the importance of a good night’s sleep 4) might be that you could afford to be consuming a little more protein in your diet; it takes longer to digest and team it with something high in fibre in your meals and you’re onto the ultimate hunger-buster! Another day, another salad... 😋 I eat salad as the main dish almost once a day everyday. The other meal I eat seasonal veggies in other ways, grilled, boiled, salted. If possible I prefer beans, seeds and fish as protein source. Egg sometimes. I rarely eat meat, basically on Sunday only when I go to my parents place for lunch and my mom says like a mantra "I prepared meat because you never eat it!". BARBEQUE BEANS⠀ ⠀ Beans are so beneficial for us. Our gut microbes just love them and I've told you before how important it is to feed those little guys. ⠀ ⠀ They are cheap, quick to cook (if you use the tinned variety) and provide iron, protein, folate as well as other minerals, plus a great dose of fibre. They are really versatile too as they can be added to bolognese, stews, salads, dips, soups... ⠀ ⠀ If you are wanting to reduce your meat intake upping your intake of beans is a great place to start. ⠀ ⠀ This mixture is flavoured with paprika, smoked paprika and cumin. It's great for introducing beans and different flavours to young children. If they aren't managing lumps yet, you can mash them with the back of a fork. Food is a big part of my life so I knew whatever “meal plan” I followed had to meet a few criteria: 1)It must be simple - I’m busy and whatever I eat has to be quick and easy but also good 2)I refuse to starve myself - I’ve never believed in eating so little that you barely survive, because once you hit that “goal weight” and start eating normally again you’ll gain everything back 3)I won’t cut out entire food groups (like carbs) because I know I won’t live my life this way and I believe a balanced diet is healthiest 4)I can’t follow something that never allows me to eat dairy free ice cream or cinnamon rolls again - NOT HAPPENING Finding a meal plan that checks all these boxes PLUS helping me to get in better shape has been game changing! ROASTED TOMATO 🍅 SOUP. This is a super easy soup 😂🤦🏽‍♀️ that I had to make this week as we went to the #greengrocers and they had large bags of IOW tomatoes reduced to 40p. Cannot resist a bargain plus I lived on the #isleofwight and I knew I was saving these from the bin so all part of #sustainableeating. 🍅Cut the tomatoes in half widthways (I used 12 large for 4 people) and place on a baking tray, flesh side up. Grind black pepper, a little salt on top and drizzle with #oliveoil 🍅Roast at gas mark 5 for 20-40mins (depends on size of tomatoes) test for softness with a knife. 🍅Meanwhile chop a large onion and sauté with a little oil. Add 1tbsp fennugreek, 1tsp cumin and coriander and ginger. Coat the onion in the spices and add 2 crushed garlic cloves. 🍅Add the tomatoes in plus lentils (1 cup per person) and cover with water or stock. Bring to a simmer. 🍅Simmer until lentils are cooked, add a large handful of fresh herbs or dried and purée to soup. Will we be eating insects in the future? According to recent studies, not only could consuming insects (“entomophagy”) like crickets, grasshoppers and beetles reduce our consumption of processed meat, which is a risk factor for colorectal cancer, but it could also have a positive impact on the environment. For example, raising insects uses fewer resources and emits less greenhouse gases than does raising livestock for meat or poultry production. While crickets are similar in calorie, saturated fat and protein content to beef, chicken and pork, they are also higher in calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin C and riboflavin. Monsoon time auction at the docks. How are the Kolis to make a living during the annual 3 months fishing ban? Discouraged by a paltry compensation of less than $50 a month offered by the government for observing this ban, these indigenous fisherfolk head to the Rocky outcrops for easy catch. Unavailability of fresh fish anywhere else in the market fetches them a better price that helps them stay afloat in these months of no income. This is a classic example of why all conservation efforts are bound to fail if protection of indigenous communities is not included in the narrative. If excluded for long, we can not then blame them for the choices that they make for survival. The basic 🌱 Big misconception is that making good vegan food is hard. I’m pretty sure everyone and their auntie knows how to make pasta. The possibilities are endless. Don’t know how to sautés ? Throw a splash of oil in a pan with some diced onion n garlic (peppers if u like it spicy) wait til it starts to brown then throw in some mushrooms (i used diced portobello) Let that sizzle on medium heat for about 10 min. Make sure to mix it up in the pan. Add some spinach Pastas are great because you can basically sauté up wtv u got in the crib, stir fry style. How you spice it is what champions r made of. I added cumin,salt,pepper,garlic salt,smoked paprika and some saffron cuz fuck it I like living on the edge 🤣 Spice to your taste. Once pasta done boil, i drained and added 2/3 spoonfuls of cashew cheese that i showed y’all how to make in a previous post. Add a splash of milk to help it breakdown. Then add your mush/veg mix. Taste after you mix thoroughly and add more spice if needed. Hoy me da mucho orgullo decir que mi hermana y mi cuñado tienen otra respuesta: @becrickets un alimento a base de grillos, comparada con otras proteínas de orígen animal, por ejemplo, la producción de grillos requiere de 12 veces menos recursos (agua y alimento) para producir la misma cantidad de proteína y emiten 10 veces menos gases de efecto invernadero que las vacas. Además que son súper nutritivos para nosotros y contienen todos los aminoácidos esenciales y vitamina B12. 🦗🦗🌿🌎 . What does “healthy” mean to you? Some people know this and others don’t, but I’ve got a day job as a Senior Marketing Manager. It happens to be in the food service industry working with colleges and universities. Basically, I get paid the big bucks to figure out how to get students to spend more money eating on campus as opposed to going off campus. Part of this conducting focus groups. One of the questions I’m required to ask students during focus groups is what their definition of healthy is. Boy, let me tell you I get all sorts of answers. Here are some of the things I’ve been told: Healthy means fresh Healthy means local ingredients Healthy means fruits and veggies Healthy means sustainable food sources Healthy means food cooked right in front of me Healthy means organic food Healthy means not greasy Healthy means salads I’m going to stop there as I think you get the idea. Technically none of them are wrong, especially because “healthy” is based on individual belief. So what do I think the word means? I’m going with eating a diet of mostly single ingredient foods mixed with some fun, treat-type foods. Limiting liquid calories and drinking mostly water is also big. What do I mean by single ingredient foods? Things like chicken - the only ingredient is chicken. The only ingredient in strawberries is....strawberries. So there you have it. My definition of healthy. Before I go, let me ask you this. What does healthy mean to you?
