As World Diabetes Day is coming to a close, here at Sensible Meals we are constantly raising awareness for Type 1 diabetes. Our company was founded by Ingrid Rinck after her son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 is not related to diet or lifestyle, there is nothing you can do to prevent it, and—at present—nothing you can do to get rid of it. Type 1 requires rigorous 24/7 monitoring of blood glucose levels—even overnight—to avoid potentially lethal highs and lows in blood sugar, as well as other devastating complications like kidney, eye and nerve diseases, and heart disease. Ingrid started Sensible Meals out of a need to help her son monitor his illness. She saw a need in her community as well, to help others avoid Type 2 diabetes. Over 90% of people with diabetes have Type 2 that is due to diet and lifestyle. They are on medications daily that they could be off of with a controlled diet, that we can provide! We give all clients calorie restricted meals that are low carb and low sugar. This is exactly what a diabetic needs to help control their illness. Sensible Meals are corporate donors for many Type 1 Diabetes charities funding a cure and sending kids to summer camps. . . . . raisingawarenessfordiabetes diabetesfamily diabetesawareness type1warrior typeonediabetes diabetesweek type1 type1diabetesawareness type1d diabetes type2diabetes type1diabetes diabeteslife jdrf diabetesresearch sensiblemeals worlddiabetesday

. . . insulin insulina bombadeinsulina insulinpump diabetes diabetes1 diabetestipo1 type1d type1diabetes type1princess type1warrior pancreas banting frederickbanting bloodsugar medtronic freestylelibre celebration worlddiabetesday diabetesawareness diabetesawarenessmonth happydiabetic happydiabeticchallenge diabetic

I anledning af World Diabetes Day kommer her et par af de spørgsmål/misforståelser jeg oftest hører i forbindelse med min type 1 diabetes: 1) Har du så den gode eller den dårlige slags? There's no such thing.

Happy World Diabetes Day💙 Yesterday I had the opportunity to reflect on my life with diabetes and what it means to be a diabetic. From the very beginning, I have always felt that taking control of my diabetes was my only option. When I get frustrated or overwhelmed, I am so fortunate to have a group of Type 3s to support me through the hard times. I am not my diabetes but it has shaped me into the person I am today: open-minded, adaptable, and accountable. • • It’s been a journey with many highs and lows. May the next year be as sweet as can be.

Diabetesta on useita eri muotoa, joista minun on LADA eli aikuisena alkava hitaasti etenevä 1-tyypin autoimmuunisairaus, jossa elimistö alkaa tuntemattomasta syystä tuhota haiman insuliinituottavia soluja. Alkuvaiheessa hoitona saattaa toimia 2-tyypin lääkitys, elämäntapamuutokset ja laihdutus, mutta sairauden edetessä insuliinihoito on väistämätön oman insuliinituotannon ehtyessä. . Jopa Diabetesliiton sivuilla sanotaan 'Tyypin 1 eli nuoruustyypindiabeetikoita... '. Itseltänikin löytyy papereista seur. diagnoosit: Diabetes, LADA, 2-tyyppi, uudelleen LADA ja viimeisimpänä lapsuusiän Diabetes. . LADAssa oireet voivat kehittyä 2-tyypin tavoin hitaasti vuosien saatossa, joten olisi tärkeä tunnistaa sen oireita, kuten tahaton laihtuminen, lisääntynyt virtsaneritys, jano, jatkuva nälkä, masennus, ärtyisyys, väsymys, lihaskrampit jne. . ykkstyyppi ykkstyypindiabetes t1d worlddiabetesday maailmandiabetespivä lada latentautoimmunediabetes t2d kakkostyyppi diabetic diabeetikko diabetes tyypin2diabetes MODY type1d type1d ladadiabetes 1tyyppi 1tyypindiabetes diabetesawarenessmonth

November. Diabetes Awareness Month, Day 13. 💙 —————————————————- Here is my Medical Alert ID. Every type1 “should” wear one. Every endocrinologist (diabetic doctor) harps on us to wear it. Too many unfortunate things can happen... a sudden low or extreme high while driving can appear like driving intoxicated to an officer. A sudden low can cause me to pass out or have a seizure and if I am in a location where no one knows me, a medical alert ID may save my life. So here is my T1 PSA- wear one if you are T1! And if you’re not, check for one if you see suspicious behavior. 💙 OH! Do you show off your diabetes? I really enjoy the “Proud Diabetic” movement we’ve seen in the later years because: 👊🏽We have nothing to be ashamed off 👊🏽👊🏽The more people understand about diabetes, the easier it will be for everyone This is my own design and it’s always fun to wear this hoodie. It’s a conversation starter. I think my favorite moment was when a police officer stopped me on my way out of a local coffee shop and asked about the hoodie and where he could get one. He didn’t live with diabetes but his brother did and he loved the message. And I have so many more stories like that. It’s crazy: seeing so many bright souls here in one place (you!) b’cause for so long I felt like I was the only one in the world with type 1, sooo I wanted to introduce myself since we’re basically family.⁣ ⁣ My name is Taja Cato and I teach ppl with type 1 diabetes how to successfully achieve their fat loss goal and lower their A1C through macro nutrition and strength training.⁣ ⁣ (Oh, and I also host the podcast More Than Just a Type...a place where you can come for tangible tools and tips to live your best life💫).⁣ ⁣ I was diagnosed just over 20 years ago (And hid it for the first 17 years cause’ I was determined never to let it define me).⁣ ⁣ I love lifting weights and being active outdoors, but I balance it out with pizza on weekends (even tho I still struggle to get my carb/fat:insulin ratios right).⁣ ⁣ I’m here to shine a light on your many strengths. ⁣ ⁣ Because having an autoimmune disease is anything but easy, but if anyone knows the definition of “strong” it’s you. ⁣ ⁣ Tell me: who are you and what do you do?🧡⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

I still can't believe I actually finished my PhD and am Dr Edwards! My topic, Supporting the Journey of Pregnancy for Women with type 1 diabetes, is very personal. I was diagnosed with type1diabetes in January 1980, aged 12 year old. I was told, along with many things, that I would never have children and that if I dared, they would be deformed or stillborn. I was told I would likely lose my sight, kidneys and legs. I was given a 'forbidden foods' list and urine testing equipment and big, clumsy needles and pig insulin, and sent back to start year 8. I was 12.... Here I stand, 40 years later, proud Mama to 3 beautiful sons, wife of my funny, loving, supportive, caring, hardworking husband, daughter to the best humans in the world, sister to an incredible woman, Aunty to the most divine niece and nephew. Despite complications and chronic issues with my physical and mental health, I have my eyes, kidneys and legs. I am a Mama. I am here, living an incredible life. I work bloody hard to manage my diabetes like a ninja. My diabetes specialist recently told me, 'You will die WITH diabetes, not FROM diabetes'. Today is worlddiabetesday and the theme is mydiabetesfamily My life has so far, been a richly filled journey of wonderful and terrible. I live in full colour, at top speed. I try to look forward to each and every day, no matter what it brings. Without my family, I literally wouldn't be here. It's their love and practical support that got me through my darkest days. They are my sun, my moon, my stars and my universe. They listen when I rage about diabetes and its daily crap. Their hearts are melted into mine. I am forever grateful for being part of their lives. They make everything worth it and everything better. Celebrate your loved ones today, whether you are affected by diabetes or not. Today I got my influenza vaccination.💉 . Before my type-1 diagnosis I never wanted to have influenza vaccination, but with this disease I find it very important to get. . During the past about 18 months that I have been type-1 I have been sick once, I had just ordinary flu but I was so sick that it completely changed my attitude towards influenza vaccination. Now I'm scared of getting flu or influenza etc. that I really want to do what ever I can in order to stay healthy. 🙏 . What do you think of vaccination? Why to take it or avoid it? . BTW, does the vaccination affect to your insulin need? It seems that today my insulin need has been less than normal. If I were the ruler of the universe 👸🏽, everyone living with insulin-dependent diabetes would actively use their IOB (active Insulin On Board) in their daily diabetes decision making. Why: Because the amount of rapid-acting insulin you have circulating (from basal or bolus) will most often determine your blood sugar outcome in any given situation. When it comes to exercise, it’s probably the most important variable, as rapid-acting insulin gets dramatically impacted by activity. I’m often asked what blood sugar number I usually have when I start exercising, and yes it’s important, but I’d argue my IOB is more important. I’ve spent a lot of time finding my formula for exercise and diabetes so I have a solid knowledge of the right amount of IOB for most types of activities that works for me. I know that IOB of 2-2.5 IU is perfect for my morning workouts for me to stay in range (with food in my belly) and that I can’t have more than ½-1 IU IOB in the afternoon or evening. That knowledge is golden!!! And yes, I look at total mess in this picture and I’m ok with that 😉 .. .. .. type1diabetes DiabetesStrong diabadass type1diabetes diabeticlife diabetesawareness T1DLOOKSLIKEME T1D t1dstrong type1strong t1diabetic # diabetic type1 typeone t1diabetesawareness typeonediabetes type1diabetic type1warrior insulindependent t1dlife type1d diabetestype1 bloodsugar diabetes diabetesinthewild

L is for lipids. Blood glucose is only part of good diabetes control. It is also important to control cholesterol. You can make lifestyle changes to have less saturated fat and more monounsaturated oils which can help, but many people also need to take statin medications. Again this is not you failing, it is us trying to prevent complications such as heart attacks and strokes. Findthe100K DiabetesActionMonth WellSouth diabetes Type2D Type1D Dietitian Healthylifestyle DESMOND WalkingAway heartfoundation movemore

Blood sugar measurement on the go… I always bring my meter with me. Do you? I wear a CGM but there are times when it’s inaccurate (especially at the outer ranges and the first 24-hours), it’s warming up, I don’t wear it for some reason or it’s not working (it’s tech, it happens). And in those situations, I need my meter to know what the heck is going on with my blood sugar. For when it comes to where my blood sugar is at, I’m not winging it. I’m not in tune enough with my body to know if I’m at 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/l) or 150 mg/dl (8.3 mmol/l), and I don’t remember the last time I took an insulin dose without checking my blood sugar first, either by looking at my CGM graph or doing a finger stick. In my opinion, it’s just too risky, and I’m not willing to take that risk with my health .. .. .. type1diabetes DiabetesStrong diabadass type1diabetes diabeticlife diabetesawareness T1DLOOKSLIKEME T1D t1dstrong type1strong t1diabetic # diabetic type1 typeone t1diabetesawareness typeonediabetes type1diabetic type1warrior insulindependent t1dlife type1d diabetestype1 bloodsugar diabetes diabetesinthewild

✨• goodlifewithdiabetes Prick your finger with the lancing device at the sides of the finger as there are less nerve ending here than at the tips. Recommended finger: The World Health Organisation recommends the middle or ring fingers are used for blood glucose tests (second and third fingers). You may want to avoid using your little finger due to the skin being thin. You may need to squeeze your finger a little until blood appears – if you find you need to squeeze hard, try pricking a finger again. My personal choice of finger prick is the ring finger, but I cannot depend on this one finger. I feel less pain while pricking the ring finger and middle finger. november awareness type1story awarenessmonth t1dawareness t1d type1d diabetic diabetes goodvibes diabetesmellitus diabetesawareness goodlifewithdiabetes diabetesawarenessmonth accesstoinsulinisahumanright reducecostofinsulin insulinforall notaxoninsulin nogstoninsulin diabetesindia jdrf diabetesdoesntstopme medtronicdiabetes

It's said that people living with Diabetes make an additional 180 decisions a day than those without Diabetes. What should I eat? How many carbs does this have? What is my carb to insulin ratio? Should I do a dual or a square bolus? Should I check my sugar, I feel funny? Am I low? Add the additional decisions on top of the regular everyday decisions about home, family, school, work and personal life and whooo! It can be exhausting. And to say the least mentally taxing. • People living with Diabetes are at an increased risk for depression, anxiety and eating disorders. • Rates of depression across the lifespan are 2 times greater for people living Diabetes than the general population. • People with Type 1 Diabetes are twice as likely to live with disordered eating. • People living with Diabetes can experience a condition called Diabetes Distress. It's when you have extra worry or concern about things diabetes related you wouldn't normally worry about. Like the fear of going into DKA, or into a coma due to hypoglycemia. Diabetes can take it's toll. Real talk. And is why it's that much more important for us to check in with our mental health and get help if needed. I suggest investing in a self care tool kit. For me, regular at home exercise helps with anxiety, depression and helps regulate my sugars to prevent other issues. Simple nutrition, also helps boost my mood and fuels my body the right way, also helping to regulate blood sugars which help to stable and boost mood. I engage in Personal Development because where the mind goes, the body will follow. I NEED to fuel my mind with persepctive that will help me grow. It helps to keep my mind positive. Support and community is MAJOR. Get you a circle who understands your disease and supports you. (🖐🏽 I can be in your circle 😉) Mental health effects us all differently. We all have struggles and no one is perfect. What does matter is that we take action to make sure we are mentally healthy. Do you have a self care kit? If not, inbox me today and I'll share how you can create your own self care kit and better take care of your entire body and mind. DiabetesAwarenessMonth Type1D
