Hubby walked the pups today cuz I had to go to the lab to get my bloodwork done! I did walk 2.25 miles on the treadmill tho!! Did the dms and also started week 3 of tiustrength !!! Wants: the shiny, too good to be true type of $h*t. We all get caught up in them— they are an interesting part of the imagination that is so intimately linked to our human experience. As humans we have the ability to dream, to expect, to project. And while these things can allow for great creativity and expression, they can also unground us and leave us obsessing over fantasy rather than facing reality. And many times, our wants can masquerade around as our needs— which can result in confusion and often times exhausting and ineffective behavior patterns, habits, and choices. . . . But the main difference between our wants and our needs is that our wants are NEVER satisfied. They are impossible to satisfy because they are not real. They are by definition, imaginary, and that’s all they can ever be. . . . So what do you want? Personally, my wants show up as wanting more money 💰(not enough, but “more”— there’s a difference 😉), wanting people to always put me first rather than themselves (which is selfish, I know 🤦🏻‍♀️), and wanting to eat, drink, and do whatever I want to my body without it having any effect on how it looks or feels (just all the🍷 🍕all the time). . . . So what can we do when we find ourselves, once again, falling down the rabbit hole of wanting and desire? We can pause, take a moment to breathe and ask ourselves “why do I want this?” In my experience, usually the answer is some version of a need not getting met and an insecurity coming to the surface. As I mentioned in my previous post, meeting our needs is essential. My first course of action when I find myself in this place is to do whatever I can to fulfill that need. My second course of action is to address the insecurity. But that’s a whole different post. Y’all, i love makeup! I was a tomboy growing up and could care less as a teenager but now I LOVE it! It’s hard though to sweat throughout the day from teaching and working out to keep a beat face 😂 ⠀ I do NOT wear foundation. nofilter I hate that stuff! It gets all over your clothes, feels so heavy on your face, and I would be constantly worrying about it getting over everything and everyone during the day. That’s why I’m such a fanatic about skin care! I would much rather spend a fortune on skin care than spend a fortune on covering it up. My blog for my skin care routine is on my website by the way!
