Our bodies are amazing right? They’ve got us this far without us even having to think about it, they know exactly what to do and this includes what to eat. If you stop and listen to what food you’re enjoying or what you’re craving, you’ll notice there’s a reason for it. Your body knows. It’s telling you. Today I’ve really enjoyed this snack, why? Time to practice what I preach! All my plans and tasks for the night will have to wait, my body needed rest. This means it’s ok that I didn’t do all the things on my list, it’s ok if the house is a mess and I didn’t get to the dishes or do the washing. I give myself permission to let it go without guilt. _ My body is the only vehicle I have to get me through this life so it’s important I take care of it. When it needs rest, it lets me know. Over the years I’ve learnt the hard way to honour this need for rest when it arises, instead of continuing to push my body until it breaks. I know this isn’t easy for everyone, but where you can, try to honour your body by taking a break, breathing, setting things aside that can wait til tomorrow or doing some self care. _ Your body loves you but it needs your help to nurture it so it can continue to support you through this life. Called the enteric nervous system, a sophisticated network of neurons, neurotransmitters, and support cells like those found in the brain.  This network permeates the digestive tract from the esophagus to the colon, and “enables it to act independently, learn, remember, and as the saying goes, produce “gut feelings.” We have all had those gut feelings.  A sudden impact in the pit of the stomach, as if we’ve been punched, when we receive bad news.  An intuition that manifests as a fluttering feeling, perhaps telling us to wait on a purchase or signing a contract.  A warm feeling in the belly that tells us we’re safe. The gut communicates to us in visceral ways that transcend thought or emotion. How often do you sit and ask yourself the questions What do I need most right now? What would help me to feel... (Less bloated, happier in my skin, more relaxed etc). We often over ride the feelings and messages we get for the input of others but we have so much more wisdom and knowledge than we give ourselves credit for. It’s a journey and a process to listen to your inner guidance. It took me a long time to connect with myself and even then when I got answers to the above questions I asked myself I dismissed them as being silly, ridiculous and writing them off because I convinced myself I just made them up in my head. Time and time again it never stops amazing me how I see visuals and hear words of plants / places that I’d never heard before that turn out to be powerful medicine on my journey. The most recent example... I’ve been feeling a heaviness and some sadness that I didn’t really have words for. I sat, asked and listened. A name of a flower appeared so I bought the flower essence. Within 2 days I felt a shift, the heaviness had lifted. I came across a meme that made me belly laugh so much I fell off my bed, I stayed on the floor not remembering the last time I laughed so much. Alignment is an articulate word. This word is often used in regards to life. Living a life of alignment.. I know you have heard it, yet how relevant is it to your own life? . Think of it as in getting a wheel alignment for your car. When the wheels are in alignment the car will then perform properly as it is intended to. . Or think of it in the physical sense. If your body is out of alignment it can’t perform simple tasks like walking or sitting and certainly not holding a plank! . So then what does it feel like to be out of alignment? It can look different for many people. It can be pain, disease or feeling consistently tired. It can be an unhappiness covered up by emotional eating, alcohol and medications to only name a few. However putting a bandaid on it does not get to the root of the problem or dissipate the pain. . It is deeper than that. . The root of the problem is being out of alignment with your truth of who you are and what your soul level desires are. You know what I am taking about ... the things in life you have regrets that you have not yet tried or accomplished. The things you wish for. The things you know are just keeping you at some level of satisfied, yet still not fully happy. And those things will keep popping into your mind until you do something about them. And when you do, you will be at the awe of your own excitement and your own feeling of aliveness! . You are just like the car getting a wheel alignment you need to look after it so it works in the best way possible. It may take time, it may take new parts or money, yet you will do what it takes to get your car working. . Will you do what it takes for you? I was working with a client the other day, and her stomach pain came back after having two consistent weeks of feeling good. We went through questions to help her discover the source of her pain: What did you eat? What did you drink, and was it enough? Her responses showed little evidence it was a food issue. Then I asked what in your life are you struggle to digest? When we are faced with a challenge that is difficult to swallow it will show up in your body. We worked through dissecting the challenge, and implementing the tools she could use to help her feel confident, and ease her pain. Do you find you’re struggling with an area of pain in your body? What situation in life do you need to tune into more?

🥕 Dieting doesn’t work for sustained weight loss... So what works? . . 🔍 Getting to the root cause and rebalancing your body. . . 💡Insulin resistance could be one cause of weight loss resistance, so if you are unsuccessful in maintaining weight loss, look into this with your doctor/practitioner. . . 🌠Let’s look at an analogy: When you come back from a grocery trip, you first put food you are going to eat soon in the fridge, then put extra/food for later in the freezer right? . . 🍽The same happens in your body: your body stores excess energy from a meal as glycogen in the liver and muscle for immediate use (fridge), and fat for later use (freezer). . . 😰Unfortunately, sometimes that ‘later’ never comes. Body fat is never burnt because there is something in the way. . . ❓What is that something? . . INSULIN. Insulin tells the body to store fat. It also inhibits lipolysis (fat burning). So if you have a high insulin level, and it’s not lowered, then at the end of whatever ‘diet’ you are doing, the high insulin is going to tell the body to pile fat back on. . . 📝There are many causes of insulin resistance eg inflammation in the body, the build up of fat inside cells (intramyocellular lipid) - see my previous post. . . 🍽 Research shows that one effective way to reduce insulin resistance is to fast (👩🏻‍⚕️always check with your medical practitioner/doctor before you fast as it may not be suitable for everyone,esp if you have medical conditions or 👶👧🤱🤰👵👨‍🦳) . . 🥬🥦Another is to adopt a #wholefoodplantbased diet, as this has been shown in studies to improve insulin sensitivity, presumably by reducing inflammation and intramyocellular lipid (PMID 19339401). . . ⏰ Do you currently fast? Day 1 of my cycle and I’m so glad I have a light schedule and nothing that involves me getting up and out of the house unless I want to. How cool is it that the first day of cycle syncs up with the first few days of #mercuryretrograde ? So cool 😎 I think! Two times the supportive energy to lay low and take it easy. Do what ever it takes to heal the fractured innards that use blame as a weapon within you and towards another. When you do, blame transmutes into life enhancing boundary that knows what it stands for, what it allows in and what it must say no to and let go of. In this new stable ground you become Rooted in Trust, become the Trusting, and you become a beacon for something new to emerge. The next action step, obvious and clear. Do not apologize for spending your energy, time, money and resources to heal yourself and find your center so that you can be a safe and stable ground for those around you. For when you are healthy and well you will make a greater impact in those things that call you to come running to help. When you are healthy, well and energized, your "causes" give you wind beneath your wings instead of deplete your well and leave you fried. And each one of us the center of our own effort therefore our own healing vitally important. We must clear the fog of blame, judgement, resentments, anger, defense, fear, arrogance and hatred..... to see through the eyes of compassion. Compassion lays down all blame and decides to BE Kind. No explanation needed, just being. Kindness has a very sure yes and a very firm no. Kindness says, "that simply does not work for me", and then takes action in the direction of life enhancement, for the wellbeing of all, not just the few. I love summer, it's my favorite season and living in California, I'm fortunate to have incredible weather year round. #FunFact about me...I love to bargain shop and have a talent for getting great finds…LOVE Marshalls, TJ Maxx and HomeGoods – I could easily teach a course. . I often hear women tell me they are waiting until they lose the weight, get the job...whatever it is, before they'll buy themselves something new, before they ALLOW themselves to feel beautiful. As if they are not deserving of it now, exactly as they are. . This is what I call, conditional love for oneself. Where we withhold love based on conditions. Loving you needs to be unconditional and not based on contingencies. . You have the right, right now, to feel beautiful, you are deserving of clothes you feel epic in, and notice the excuses you tell yourself about not having enough money, not being the right weight, not having enough time. Taking care of you, is loving you. . You don't have to spend a lot of money to feel good and fashionable and PROUD of how you look. Set a small budget, go to the aforementioned stores and pick things that make you feel like the Queen you are! . Finding those piece of clothing you LOVE, that make you feel AMAZING. TRUST YOUR BODY I just had my hairdresser help me muscletest new shampoo. 😜 I'd already done my basic research for this brand and wanted to make sure my body agreed. Plus I needed to choose between several options. So I explained the muscletest to him. It's basically your body telling you whether a product (or food) makes your body stronger or weaker. He was eager to try it. We stood in the middle of the store and tested several shampoos, conditioner etc. One product line stood out by far. It's name? HEALING STRENGTH I guess that's the perfect product for the Healer's healer 😉 I sometimes forget not everyone knows about muscletesting. It's such a simple and powerful tool. ✮ HEAVEN AND HELL ✮ "There’s another story that you may have read that has to do with what we call heaven and hell, life and death, good and bad. It’s a story about how those things don’t really exist except as a creation of our own minds. Yesterday I attended a service @Agape International Spiritual Center here in Beverly Hills, and the message was to let go, to let go of who you think you need to be and to be who you are. To let go of control. This is a huge one for me. To let go of where I think I am supposed to be, what I am supposed to be doing, who I should be at this point in my life, versus who I am. And to live life from this place. To make my choices and decisions from a place of wholeness as opposed to from a place of lack or brokenness. 🌟 . Can you relate?🤔 . Panache Desai, amazing man, was their guest speaker and he said, "You can spend decades in the process of "becoming" you or you can spend 1 minute to choose to "be" you." What powerful words🙌🏻 . Coming from the coaching industry myself, I see so many people and messages that you need to do more work, heal more, play bigger...etc in order to have what you want. What if instead, the message was that, YOU ARE ALREADY EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND ASPIRE TO BE, your only goal now is to OWN IT and BE IT.✨ . I don't know about you, but that feels a hell of a lot better to me. What if today, you choose to just be you. And let go of all the stigmas, should, what if's, and lived today, in the NOW, loving all of you and being you in all your magnificence.🥰 . That's what I'm choosing. at the seashore yesterday with my little loves, as we often do on #familysundays, my middle wasn’t being his ocean-frolicking self with his bros (possibly too many shark docs of late-oopsie🦈), so distraction was key. as we took our stroll, sought out seashells, searched for bunnies in the brush, + had some deep deep convos he’s so good at; I was filled with all the good stuff. and sometimes that good stuff is simply recognizing what we AREN’T filled with-even after just one glass of wine (yes one glass and one bottle for whatever reason-autoimmune? age? body simply knowing exactly what it is? SLEEP INTERRUPTION?-were treating me the same). but there was no headache, no breaking my fast early with poor food choices, no snapping or on edge, no wishing I was napping, no annoyance at “having” to keep him busy, no nausea, no bloat, no self-hate/shame/regrets. just awe at everything i was freely able to ENJOY on these fleeting days, these early mornings, these blissful overcast beach days. Today is a day of many things. Happy Indigenous People’s Day. In 2019 we are still fighting for equality and equity among everyone in our communities. We’re lucky to share this land with amazing Indigenous people and we support equality and equity for everyone. It is also International Yoga Day. We’re not really sure why these two days fall on the same day, but we can be mindful of the importance of both. Yoga can help you connect back to breath and ultimately your body. Your body really knows. It’s wise. Yoga can sometimes help you connect if you feel disconnected. And it’s Friday, the summer equinox, the first full day of summer. ☀️ We hope you have an amazing summer! I love to cook! And I never follow recipes...🤣 Similar to how I live my life. . One of my favorite things to do is turn my favorite unhealthy meals and desserts into healthy versions made with incredible superfoods, so you get the biggest bang for your time and money. . I love pizza (I seriously wonder about people that don't) but I also love to feel good and look good🥳 so I've been having a lot of fun making cauliflower crust pizza with tons of veggies and even some fruit, like pineapple and shaved mango. And the Italian in me puts tuna on everything too. So another fun one to try is Mediterranean tuna style pizza which is delicious, with sun-dried tomatoes, diced artichokes and black olives spread on top of tomatoes sauce or even avocado oil base glazed over the crust. . Ok peeps how I try to nourish myself 80% of the time PART 1: I am not a big breakfast guy and it is actually a good idea in our mass consumption society to fast every once in a while. So I dont eat until 12 pm every day. Cant recommend that for everybody though, cause like I said before every body is different and needs to be treated individually.
